Is the elevation of the host and chalice at Mass required?

Is it required by Canon Law for the presidor at mass to elevate the bread and the wine at the consecration?
 
Hi,

Yes, the General Instruction of the Roman Missal states in each of the Eucharist Prayers: “He (the priest) shows the consecrated host to the people, places in on the paten, and genuflfects in adoration…He shows the chalice to the people, places it on the corporal and genfuflects in adoration.”

The word ‘rubric’ comes from the latin word for red. The rubrics are directions (not suggestions) printed in red, and are to be obeyed.
