With 99% of the world in quarantine these last few weeks, and Sunday just a few hours away, will viewing mass on-line produce the unintended consequence of digitizing the presence of God in the Eucharist? Is church attendance becoming irrelevant?

No, because it’s not the same.

The Mass has been available in video form on EWTN, Catholic TV etc already for years and no Catholic was pointing to those and saying “Church attendance is irrelevant”. Why would Catholics suddenly do so now?

Confession is my big concern. In absence of the Sacrament itself, how do we know if we had “perfect contrition”? I used to go every month because I need it.
Prior to Vatican II (when fasting requirements were stricter), it was not unusual for Catholics in some areas to receive Holy Communion a half a dozen times in a given year.
I strongly recommend drive-in Mass and Confession.

We can make a spiritual communion at the time of Communion. The Archbishop who celebrates online Mass for us always puts up the Spiritual Communion prayer at the appropriate time.
Mass online is not the same as Mass in person, but when tuning in to Mass online, ensure you are partaking spiritually, no distractions and engage in the responses and prayer.
Contrition is imperfect or perfect, just do your best. Allow God to be the judge.

No it is not the same. I never used to watch online masses before this virus crisis and I fully intend to return to attending mass once this lockdown period is all over (God willing). If it is impossible for me to go to mass physically for whatever reason then I will watch an online mass in its place.
