Is the #FingerLiftChallenge witchcraft?

So I saw recently some social media friends posting videos of themselves doing the finger lift challenge. Basically what it is, is 4-5 people try to lift a person using only 2 fingers each. The first try always fails and they obviously can’t lift the person using only their fingers. Then, they do thing thing with their hands over the persons heads (looks a bit spooky) and then try to lift the person again, but this time they can practically throw the person to the ceiling. I did some research and it looks like this might have roots in the occult. I’m not a scientific person but unless there is a scientific explanation, I think kids should be warned. They could be dabbling with the devil. :bigyikes::knight2:

It is a trick of a sort. Not magic. Initially, there is no coordination among the lifters. The “hands over the head” thing is just a distraction. The counting is the thing. At the end of the count, everybody lifts together in a more coordinated way.

When you think about it, no one person is actually lifting all that much when they do it exactly together, but if they’re disorganized about it initially, which is almost always the case, each one is trying to lift a lot more, and unevenly.

The counting and lifting at once is the thing.

We tried this once at a party. There weren’t any hands over the heads for that particular “ritual.” We chanted,“Light as a feather. Stiff as a board,” until the person on the floor squirmed with laughter, “You’re tickling me!” and everyone burst out laughing at the silliness of it.

Dude…chill. Just because someone does out of the ordinary things, it does not mean it is supernatural related. As the other posters pointed out, it is just a (cheap) magic trick, an illusion to amaze and amuse people…
What comprised your research? What made you think it had roots in the occult?

Besides…if that’s the devil’s master plan…what is he gonna do next? Steal our candy and start wearing a reversed baseball hat, like the proudest of first grade bullies?

It’s just a trick, not witchcraft.

But, I think something similar was in a film called “The Craft” about witches. So maybe that’s why the OP is concerned. It’s just a trick, the person doesn’t actually levitate.

When I did some research on this two finger challenge thing I found it was used back in the day as “magic”/ whithcraft. I think people don’t take the occult seriously enough. I don’t go near that stuff with a ten foot pole. It like opening your front door to Satan and giving him a cup of tea.

Ouja boards are a form of divination. All forms of divination are against Church teaching, for example visiting a psychic or medium are also against the Church.

This is a trick, like a magician would perform.

It is not witchcraft, it’s a trick. I have done it and it’s all in the breathing: 1,2,3 LIFT.

Could you give some examples of your research?

Be careful: if you start looking for the devil, he will appear, nine out of ten. Don’t get paranoid about small issues like these - the occult may exist, but is far different from what movies show us to be.
