Is the Glories of Mary heretical?

So, in the case of Solomon and Bathsheba, we see the formal custom presented (which is no arbitrary detail), the custom being that the king rises for no one but the queen mother, who intercedes for others, and that the king will honor her every request. In practice though, Solomon did not follow this custom.

Almost all the kings mentioned in 1 & 2 kings are listed along with the names of their mothers.

And Solomon is proved to be wicked in the end. Yet Solomon was used as a type of Christ in that great Messianic prophecy of 2 Sam 7, as the seed of David, the Davidic king, and a speaker of parables. Christ did what Solomon failed to do.
Which is why the Solomon example hurts your case rather than helps it.

There was a poster who posted that the Church in the East and the West teaches that Mary is the only means of salvation. This is funny because I read “If Christ did not rise, your faith is in vain” not if Mary didn’t exist your faith is in vain.

How does it hurt his case? That other poster was obviously wrong.

That was because Adonijah had bad intentions and was trying to take over Solomon’s throne by marrying one of David’s wives.

We don’t know Adonijah’s intentions. We only know Solomon killed him.

There’s another problem with the question “Is the Glories of Mary Heretical?”.
Only the Holy Mother Church, the pillar and ground of Truth, has the power to declare that a doctrine is heretical.
It’s pretty clear that the Church thinks the book in question is orthodox.

They must have been bad otherwise he would not have died.

The Church isn’t recommending that book to those interested in Catholicism though.

Mary is subordinate to God, not the other way around
True, but at the same time Mary is omnipotent according to the Glories of Mary.
“She is omnipotent, for the queen, according to all laws, enjoys the same privileges as the king; and since the son’s power also belongs to the mother, this Mother is made omnipotent by an omnipotent Son.”

New to Catholicism, I struggle with Marian doctrine and truly want to love her. It’s all very new to me. Today, listening to Catholic Answers on the radio, a comment was made, regarding the birth of Christ, “God needed Mary.” Pretty simple yet profound.

Agathon, you might have skipped over the first paragraph of my comment too quickly. Try reading it again more carefully.

(Even if Adonijah was totally innocent, that is fairly beside the point [beside this point anyway, but it actually is significant that he was not], because of that first point I mentioned. Read the first two chapters of 3 Kings. Regardless of whether Solomon’s actions were excessive or just, Adonijah continues the theme from 2 Kings, that David’s sons kept trying to usurp the kingship, but he had sworn that Solomon would be king, and God established David and Solomon as king.)

Also, it isn’t my case that Mary is Queen of Heaven, but the Catholic Church’s case. It’s in the Catechism and in Pius XII’s declaration of the Assumption. We have to trust in what the Church teaches more than our own judgment.

I don’t know who it was who posted the post you refer to, nor do I know the context, or the full meaning of what they said–so I’m not going to comment on it.

As a matter of fact I did read it. And my point still stands.

Also, it isn’t my case that Mary is Queen of Heaven, but the Catholic Church’s case
And it’s also the Church’s case that Jesus is King. The King is the supreme ruler not the Queen.

You took part of my quote, and said, “Which is why the Solomon example hurts your case rather than helps it.” How so?
If you disagree, then okay, you disagree, but saying that Solomon’s wrongdoing (which was not necessarily wrongdoing), or that Bathsheba’s request was not in accordance with the king’s will, proves that the typology does not hold, is simply wrong. That’s not how biblical typology works. It is just as wrong as if you said that Adam was not a figure of Christ, because Adam sinned and Christ was sinless.
What is it exactly that you disagree with here?

Of course Jesus Christ is King. He is Almighty God and totally sovereign. All sovereignty Mary has as Queen she has received from God, whereas God has not received His Sovereignty from anyone but Himself. Who is denying that? Does it appear to you that Mary’s Queenship diminishes Christ’s Kingship?–because the Church does not teach that.
And if you don’t disagree that Mary is Queen of Heaven, then what is it about the queen mother typology you disagree with?

Our Lord tells Our Lady that His time hasn’t come when she asks Him for help with the wine shortage, but He actually ends up doing it. Why?
Respectfully Commandment Honor Thy Father and Mother, is why?

The Blessed Mother >>could not turn the water into wine could she? Thus needing and in asking Jesus? Blessed Mother goes directly to Jesus and does Jesus not tell us to go directly to him, he is our mediator and would he want us troubling our Blessed Mother?

Blessed Mother, makes it very clear whom to obey? follow his instructions? listening to Jesus Spoken Word? Do what he tells you to do, not what others tell you to do?
Written>>>Blessed Mother tells us >>Do what he ( Jesus) tells you!!?
Listen not to others?
Follow His instructions, not those who tell you to do the opposite of, believe in His Spoken Word? Commanded also add not to or subtract from what got the Israelites in trouble?
Listen to his Spoken Word, not what others tell you to follow or listen to?

Seems our Blessed Mother makes it very clear>>not about me? Blessed Mother>> needed Jesus to turn the water into wine? Flows with…

Luke 1: 46 And Mary said: My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my Savior…

Are we not all called also to proclaim the greatest of the Lord? In Worshiping and Glorifying him>>let our spirit rejoice in God our Savior?

Proclaim all that he has done for us, like our Blessed Mother proclaims in Luke 1:46 Canticle of Mary all that our Heavenly Father has done for her and for Israel, he has brought down rulers from their thrones>>>and lifted up the lowly etc ?

Blessed Mother wants us to know, this for certain maybe?>>>Do what He tells you!

In Jesus time also wine was watered down for the lower class, guest and purest wine was given to those who were elite? Who got served first also? There might be a metaphor in the wedding at Cana, turning water into wine story?

If we truly love our Blessed Mother, in honoring her, we would do what Blessed Mary being a Loving Mother, like all loving Mothers teaching>> their children also for their own good>>>>>>>>>Do what he tells you!

And not obeying what our Blessed Mother tells us>>Do what he tells you>>>> is dishonoring the request of our Blessed Mother are they not?

Blessed Mother Mary said yes and fulfilled her promise, mission task given, did she not?

Her son, has his to accomplish also?

No, Loving Mother wants to outshine her son now does she?

Peace 🙂

Read the John Henry Neumann quote. You’ll find out exactly what I mean.

I didn’t say it was wrong; I said it hurts your claim.

Why not just do the bare minimum for salvation if your efforts are never good enough?
The bare minimum is as Mary said: “Do whatever He tells you.”
Simple, but elusive to so many, who miss His instructions.
Christ established His church, listen to her.

Yes, and this is exactly what it is. She will always do the same when we ask her to pray for us. She will take us to Him and tell us to do what He tells us. She would never ask Him for something that would go against His will. We do not put OUr Lady above Our Lord. Like you say, she would never allow gay either. This is why going to her is safe because she will always do like she did with these servants. We will tell her our troubles and she will take us to Him. For Jesus through Mary. No one knows a son more than His mom. She even knows what His favorite food was while on earth. Think about how sweet that is? That He had a favorite food that His mom would make Him. That there were days when He was tired or sad and he would go lay His sweet head on her chest or hug her. Our Lady has no power of her own, everything comes from Him. She is to guide us to Him, she is to be a sweet mother to us all, and if God Himself found pleasure in Her, trusted Her, if she was good enough for God, I should consider myself lucky if ever in my life she deems me her servant.
