Is the Glories of Mary heretical?

It is called typology which is when something form the Old Testament that prefigures or represents something from the New Testament like Jesus or Mary.

Heresy is different in nature since it directly opposes the Church’s position on certain issues.

You are wrong @AlNg. If someone has heretical positions they aren’t canonized.
Photius refused to accept the filioque and was condemned by Pope Nicholas I in 863 at a synod in Rome, and four years later Photius excommunicated the Pope on the grounds of heresy.
Photius wrote that the pope and all Latins are: "forerunners of apostasy, servants of Antichrist who deserve a thousand deaths, liars, fighters against God " (Hergenröther, I, 642-46).
Photius was also condemned and anathematized by the Council of 869-870 and yet he is recognized as a saint. He is commemorated by some Eastern Catholic Churches (Ukrainian and Ruthenian) on February 6.

I don’t think that is true. If a person has espoused a heretical view, I think it is possible that he can still be canonized as a saint.
What you “think” does not make it so.

If you want to think St. Alphonsus Liguori is a heretic, that is your opinion, but the Church in making him a saint of long standing has essentially decreed that he was a model Catholic. They do not hold heretics up as publicly venerated saints.

Bottom line is whatever the Vatican does is the official church position, and if you disagree with it on the basis of “I think…” that’s your own opinion, in opposition to the Magisterium.

There is a previous thread where Photius was discussed here.

Photios of Constantinople - An Eastern Catholic Saint? Eastern Catholicism
Photios of Constantinople - An Eastern Catholic Saint? Yes.
His sainthood is not accepted currently by Rome and as I understand it, he is primarily an Orthodox saint.
He may have been on the calendar of some Eastern churches before they came into communion with Rome.
He is also frequently confused with a different St. Photius.

Respectfully toward, opinion only in pondering 🤔 and in asking what does our Heavenly Father have to say of those using typology within his Spoken Word?

When one applies typology what does it do? How does it effect the true meaning of His Spoken Word given?

His Spoken Word>You shall surely die vs…No you will not die?
Truth vs lies?
Deceiving others by mixing truth with lies?
Adding to subtracting from His Spoken Word?
Like in the Garden, reversed, altered, his spoken word to mean something else?

Deut 4:2 You must neither add anything to what I commanded you nor take away anything from it, but keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I am charging you…

Deut 12:32 You must diligently observe everything that I command you; do not add to it or take anything from it…

Proverbs 30:5-6 Do not add to his words or else he will rebuke you and you will be found a liar.

Jeremiah 26:2 Thus says the Lord: Stand in the court of the Lord’s house and speak to all the cities of Judah that come to worship in the house of the Lord, speak to them all the words that I command you; do not hold back a word.

Eccles. 3:14 I know that whatever God does endures forever; nothing can be added to it nor anything taken from it.

Matthew 22:29 Jesus answered them, " You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God.

Matthew 24:24 For false Christ and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders as to mankind if possible even the elect.

Mark 7:13 Thus invalidating the word of God by your traditions which you handed down and you do many things such as that…

Rev 22:18-19 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this book; If anyone takes away from the words of this book of this prophecy God will take away that persons share in the tree of life and in the Holy city, which are described in this book.

Our Heavenly Father makes it pretty clear what he would say about man’s using typology with His Spoken Word, does he not?

His Spoken Word >all flows and he repeats for a reason>from the front of the Bible ,to the end of the Bible, about those who add or subtract from his Spoken Word, does he not?

Infinite Wisdom Our Heavenly Father is pro-active, knew what was to come and Jeremiah makes us aware Jeremiah 8:8

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; for you have rejected, I reject you…
Heresy is different in nature since it directly opposes the Church’s position on certain issues.
What does our Heavenly Father have to say, about those who commit> heresy against Him> >>The Heavenly Father>> His Spoken Word, when they add to and they subtract from or they reverses the True meaning of >>His Spoken Word and of His chosen Prophets?

Peace 🙂

I think you misunderstand what typology is. Saint Paul used it.

I think to read between the lines to see what he actually meant.

His sainthood is not accepted currently by Rome
There are Eastern Catholic churches that recognize him as a saint and commemorate him on February 6. He is on their calendar. All eastern Catholic Churches are fully recognized by Rome as in complete and total union with the Roman Catholic Church. Any Roman Catholic can go to an Eastern Catholic Church for Divine Liturgy and receive Holy Communion there provided they follow the fasting rules and are in a state of grace.

whatever the Vatican does is the official church position
The official Church position is that St. Thomas Aquinas is a saint. However was his teaching on women correct and something that you agree with? He teaches that “As regards the individual nature, woman is defective and misbegotten…” and that " woman, even as to her soul, is more imperfect than man."
ST Ia q.92, a.1, Reply to Objection 1: As regards the individual nature, woman is defective and misbegotten, for the active force in the male seed tends to the production of a perfect likeness in the masculine sex; while the production of woman comes from defect in the active force or from some material indisposition, or even from some external influence; such as that of a south wind, which is moist, as the Philosopher observes (De Gener. Animal. iv, 2). On the other hand, as regards human nature in general, woman is not misbegotten, but is included in nature’s intention as directed to the work of generation.

For the second quote see:Scriptum super Sententiis, II, 21, question 2, article 2.
Also see: . Summa Theologica I, qu. 92, art. 1, ad 2. where it s written that "…woman is naturally subject to man, because in man the discretion of reason predominates. "
“The woman’s hair is a sign of her subjection, a man’s is not. Hence it is not proper for a woman to put aside her hair when doing penance, as it is for a man.” Summa Theologica Supplement , qu. 28, art. 3 ad 1.
My point is that it is possible for a person to be wrong on an issue and still be canonized as a saint.

This is not a teaching regarding a doctrinal matter of the Church. Mary is a doctrinal matter of the Church.

I think we all get that you do not understand that Mary’s "omnipotence " is God’s power that He chooses to exercise through Mary. He could also choose not to do this.

These “arguments” regarding completely unrelated matters and saints are not persuasive, especially to me, and have nothing to do with the Mary issue. Just looks to me like you’re grasp h at straws because you want to feel okay about disagreeing with the Church. Whatever floats your boat.

Doesn’t it depend on whether or not they were aware of their heresy and how they would respond if awareness would be forthcoming. If their heresy were corrected and they would be compelled and would repent by the authority of Sacred Tradition or the Magisterium?

So, you are a protestant! you’re having preconceived notion about Mary, which is a mental and spiritual block for you to understand Her, keep praying in humility, about her, have an open mind and heart, and ask Jesus to reveal about her. This Prophecy of Jeremiah is for, not only for the house of Israel but for, all generations to generations LK 1:48, 55 to come, since it is said in Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Pray to Jesus to reveal to you about Mother Mary, and pray to Mary to reveal about Jesus, To Know Mary, first you should know Jesus properly only then Mother Mary will be reveled or understood, since she is given through the Church by the Heavenly Father in, Gen 3:15 even the greatest of Saint found it difficult, because, She is rare the treasure given by the Heavenly Father right from Genesis to Revelations it is written about Her , Sirach 6:22 For wisdom is like her name; she(Mary) is not readily perceived by many. Your understanding the Word of God in an intellectual manner Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord., in fact you also have to accept the Word of God in Truth and Spirit, Wisdom 9:16-19 We can hardly guess at what is on earth, and what is at hand we find with labor; but who has traced out what is in the heavens?17 Who has learned your counsel, unless you have given wisdom and sent your holy spirit from on high?18 And thus the paths of those on earth were set right, and people were taught what pleases you, and were saved by wisdom(Mary ).” As revealed to the Saints through the Church.

Remember Mary is the Spouse of the God the Holy Spirit. Full of Grace, holiness in all things, come and learn from her Proverbs 31:26 She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. Wisdom 7:26 For she (Mary) is a reflection of eternal light (Jn 8:12), a spotless (Mary is sinless) mirror of the working of God, and an image of his goodness. Song of Solomon 5:2 I slept, but my heart was awake. Listen! my beloved is knocking. “Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my perfect one(Mother Mary); for my head is wet with dew, my locks with the drops of the night.”

If you be with Mary everything will be in order Wisdom 8:1 She (Mary) reaches mightily from one end of the earth to the other, and she orders all things well.1 Cor14:40 as she did at Cana Jn 2:4,5 Proverbs 8 32-36“And now, my children, listen to me: happy are those who keep my ways.33 Hear instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it.34 Happy is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates ,waiting beside my doors.35 For whoever finds me (Mary )finds life and obtains favor from the Lord;36 but those who miss me injure themselves; all who hate me love death.”
For Jesus Himself was the living sacrifice of her body and the very fruit of her womb. When the lance pierced His heart, it pierced hers, too (cf. Lk 2:34-35). No other disciple of Jesus has ever offered more to God than she offered.
Revelation 21:22 And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem(Mary ,New Eve), coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Respectfully toward, opinion only I choose not to ever judge the Hearts souls and minds of others :). You assume I am a protestant really??? I learned a long time ago to never assume things of others. Sorry you think or assume I have a mental block and spiritual block, really? 🤔

Respectfully Just here discussing religious topics, questions asked, biblical questions about his Spoken Word etc 🙂
Revelation 21:22 And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem(Mary ,New Eve), coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Here our Heavenly Father is speaking about a> city the New Jerusalem as a bride adorned for her husband, Jesus calls himself our bridegroom. we are his bride does he not? Men/Woman, believers are his bride? >Mystery of the marriage St Peter is talking about? Flows with>

Jeremiah 31:31-34 Says the Lord when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel with the people of Judah. It will not be like the Covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt because they broke my covenant though I was a husband to them declares the Lord.>>

… notice Our Heavenly Father refers himself as being a husband>to the House of Israel and House of Judah? Our Heavenly Father was the faithful, loving spouse, but they were not the loving faithful bride spouse to him?

…Flows within His Spoken Word>>referring to the bridegroom? husband?
Psalm 19:4-5
Isaiah 62. Prophecy>The vindication and salvation of Zion, no longer forsaken, as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride…
Jeremiah 16:9
Jeremiah 7:34
Jeremiah 33:11
Joel 2:16
Ezekiel 16:8-4
Ephesians 5:25-27

His Spoken Word continues to flow as being our bridegroom, we are his bride men/woman > People?
Continues to flow with>>
Jesus refers to himself as our bridegroom within all theses Bible verses>
John 3:29
Matthew 9:15 The wedding groom cannot mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them, can they? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them and then they will fast…
Matthew 25:1-10 Bridegroom in the parable, of the 10 virgins>
Mathew 25:6
Mark 2:18
Luke 5:33-36 Jesus the bridegroom is still with them, days are coming, he tells them he will not be …

2 Corinth. 11:2 Paul refers to the church in Corinth as being espoused to Christ

Ephesians 5:22-33 Paul compares the union of a husband and wife to that of Christ church > body of believers, his assembly, people.
John 3:29
John 2:9
Rev 19:7
Rev 22:17
Rev 21:1 Refers to her as the new Jerusalem>New Heaven new Earth…

Most beautiful Love Story ever told, is it not?.
Asking Husband will return to his unfaithful spouse but man will not? > Prophecy of Jeremiah 31:31-34
