My mom and I were debating on whether or not the Holy Spirit is in heaven. What I was telling her was that the I believe the Father and the Son are in heaven and the Holy Spirit as a person was on Earth and that he wasn’t in heaven as the Holy Spirit but as God since they are one. My mom says that they are all in heaven since they are one. Am I right that there are two persons of the trinity in heaven and one is here on Earth for now or my mom that says that all three are in heaven because they are one and omnipresent? It was a pretty fun conversation we were having but I want to see what y’all think and who is right and wrong. I am willing to change my opinion on this in a heartbeat but I have no idea who’s right, I think me but yall are smarter I hope lol

‘See that you despise not one of these little ones: for I say to you, that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.’- Matthew 18:10

If guardian angels can be here watching us and in Heaven at the same time, so can the Holy Spirit.

So you are saying that the Holy Spirit as a person is in heaven, and by contrast, that means that Jesus is still as a person still on Earth

No that’s not what i said at all. The persons of the Trinity are not limited to one location like us.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (RSVCE)

19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

So is that for or against me? lol sorry my comprehension skills suck, does this mean that the person of the Holy Spirit is only on Earth right now? lol The trinity is so hard to comprehend for my little brain

“Spirit”, i.e. no body. A spiritual Being, a spiritual divine Person. Immaterial. Like the wind, the Spirit blows where He wills. He cannot be confined to a single place or time. From the catechism:
[689] The One whom the Father has sent into our hearts, the Spirit of his Son, is truly God.10 Consubstantial with the Father and the Son, the Spirit is inseparable from them, in both the inner life of the Trinity and his gift of love for the world. In adoring the Holy Trinity, life-giving, consubstantial, and indivisible, the Church’s faith also professes the distinction of persons. When the Father sends his Word, he always sends his Breath. In their joint mission, the Son and the Holy Spirit are distinct but inseparable. To be sure, it is Christ who is seen, the visible image of the invisible God, but it is the Spirit who reveals him.
It is difficult to analogize, but think of a hot summer day. The warmth is in the sun, comes from the sun (heaven), in the air which the sun warms, and also on the earth and everything on it and in it.

So does that mean that the persons of the trinity are both here and in heaven? Cause I was under the impression for the longest time that the Father and the Son where in heaven on their throne and the Holy Spirit was here with us (as persons). So am I wrong, since they are all omnipresent does that just mean that the Father and Son are here with us and the Holy Spirit is in heaven all at the same time. So yall are saying my mother is right, right if so I need to tell her the good news lol

Jesus, in His glorified Body, is in heaven with the Father. The Spirit is the Paraclete, the Consoler, the Spirit dwelling in us. Jesus sent the Spirit to be with us and dwell in us. But, at some level which we cannot fully understand, the Spirit does not come to us without both Father and Son - as they are distinct Divine Persons, but inseparable.

Very mysterious. Very above our pay grade.

Yeah I hope when we hopefully go to heaven we will understand it better. I love the trinity but sometimes its too big for my head. Well anyways thanks, God bless you 🙂

You are not alone. Ever hear of Saint Augustine? Saint Thomas Aquinas? Saint Teresa of Avila? Saint Catherine of Siena? They did not fully understand the mystery either (they do now!). Excellent company to be in.

That is true, if those super smart people couldn’t figure it out how can I and my mother do it in a 20 minute conversation. I can’t wait to be in the company with them if God wills it so, so exciting!

The Holy Spirit is everywhere, inside a GOD filled individual, at the Altar when the priest invokes HIM to come down from Heaven to perform the miracle of Transubstantiation. These are a few locations that we are sure because of the Scriptures.
Peace!

I can see why you deleted it lol, it’s all good though
Yeh. Humor often doesn’t go over well on this site. Especially my variety. Even in real life, people have a habit of taking me serious when I am clearly joking, and of thinking I am joking when I am dead serious.

lmao yeah, it happens a lot to me too. I am very sarcastic when talking to people online but most of the time if flies right over their heads, I’m sure I probably get angry too at random sarcastic post on social media sometimes without even knowing. lol but for real life maybe you should learn a new tone when joking lol, maybe it sounds to straight forward for them 😅

"To understand God one has to be God. - St. Gregory of Nyssa, brother of St. Basil the Great.

None of us will ever fully comprehend the Holy Trinity.

And
  1. Your mom is right.
Wherever the Father is, there are the Son and the Holy Spirit

Wherever the Son is, there are the Father and the Holy Spirit

Wherever the Holy Spirit is, there are the Father and the Son

IOW, where one Divine Person is, the other two Divine Persons are there as well.

Totally agree impossible for even Saint’s to explain.

The human mind cannot possible understand.

I know it sounds weird but from my own prayers and listening during this prayer.

I was told this…

Things happen in and out of course all the time.

I am in and out of course at all times during your life. I am never far away nor am I always near , but there at all times so do not stress or worry yourself.

I think he’s telling me it’s impossible to understand so do not worry.
