Was or is the Iraq war just? Well, we put a stop to countless deaths. many evidenced by mass un marked graves. We saw the orchestrator of those crimes handed over to justice. In his place, there is an emerging Democracy. All very good and just things.

The breakdown for Afghanistan is similiar I think.

Both actions had to occur. If they are unjust in the eyes of the church. So be it.🤷

“3. Not all moral issues have the same moral weight as abortion and euthanasia. For example, if a Catholic were to be at odds with the Holy Father on the application of capital punishment or on the decision to wage war, he would not for that reason be considered unworthy to present himself to receive Holy Communion. While the Church exhorts civil authorities to seek peace, not war, and to exercise discretion and mercy in imposing punishment on criminals, it may still be permissible to take up arms to repel an aggressor or to have recourse to capital punishment. There may be a legitimate diversity of opinion even among Catholics about waging war and applying the death penalty, but not however with regard to abortion and euthanasia.”

While I expect that it fails under Just War Doctorine - personally I felt it was more of a police action. Hussain was committing attrocities against his own people - killing millions. Sometimes you are moral obligated to protect your neighbors - that has nothing to do with War.

Of course that was never adequate to motive the American peoples - so the rest of this was pretty much fabricated. fwiw - Americans were motivated into WWII with Pearl Harbor - but history shows we were very involved before that and all but asked to be attacked. We did good in WWII, but we did not get involved because of Pearl Harbor (we were massively aiding the British and China before then).
