If all of the rules of the GIRM are not adhered to, is the Mass valid? Is the sactification required for Eucharist met?

Specifically, I am conccerned about the lack of a crucifix, but what about other requirements … my understanding is that NONE can be left out. Have I, inadvertantlt been not attending Mass?

It takes a lot more than that to make a Mass invalid. The list is pretty small and I don’t think any of them involve “things”. Even using invalid matter for Communion just takes it from “certainly valid” to “possibly valid”.

For Mass to be invalid, basically the Consecration doesn’t happen. This could happen if the celebrant was not really an ordained priest or did not intend for Consecration to take place. I can’t think of any other single thing that would make the whole Mass invalid.

None of the instructions in the GIRM can be left out without valid permissions. But this becomes an issue of correctness or if serious of licitness but rarely of validity.

There is a very great gap between something in the Liturgy being Invalid and something being Illicit.
