Yes, yes a thousand times yes. I have seen the movie. Basically The Secret is a bunch of new age mumbo jumbo that sells the lie that we don’t need God, and that we can become gods by manipulating the world with our own thoughts. It’s the same ol’ snake peddling the apple again.

i see what you’re saying, however IMO that article was very biased/did not share both sides of the argument.

You were asking if it violated Church teachings. Those with authority to answer that question, an apologist from this website and a priest, did so in that article with a resounding, “yes, it does.”

It sounds to me like you have fallen for “the secret” and are trying to justify believing in it. You are about to take a bite of the apple, my friend. Beware, Satan would love to see you caught up in “the secret.”

My question was answered. My views on the objectivity of the article must have prompted the second paragraph of your response! Thank you for posting.

I have to agree with beckycmarie, rain. The Secret is a re-hashing of New Age, occult practices that are spiritually dangerous for Christians. There are many threads & articles about it that describe it as being against the teachings of the Catholic Church. You ask “the universe” for everything instead of God. It teaches you to seek power that is not of God, it is occult.

IMHO: “The Secret” is no different than the Gospel of Affluence that many of the Protestant communities are peddling.

I see that in your profile you did not indicate whether or not you are Catholic - yet you asked a question on the Catholic perspective. Other posters have given you the Catholic perspective.

Please if you haven’t yet, be familiar with Catholic teaching before refuting the perspective.
