Is the New American Bible all that bad?

There is a thread elsewhere on the forum (my browser won’t let me paste links for some reason–it’s under “Scripture” and entitled “NAB Commentaries…Why not outrage?” or something to that effect) that says the NAB is an imperfect translation, and has a link to an article that compares it with heretical translations of the Bible from centuries ago. Is the NAB as bad as they say and do I need to shop for a new Bible, or can I go on with the one I’ve got?
