There’s a new application on some iPhones for confession. What is the position of the Church on this?
 
That people must go to a priest for confession. All the iPhone application you refer to is supposed to do is to help people examine their conscience and provide them with text prompts to guide their confession to a priest. The app titled “Confession: A Roman Catholic App” has an imprimatur from Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend (Indiana).
