Is The Next Pope The Antichirst?

A Traditionalist friend of mine believes that the post-Vatican II popes (John XXIII, Paul VI, John Paul I, John Paul II, and Benedict XVI) are evil and claims that Catholic prophecy reveals that the next pope after Benedict XVI will be the Antichrist.

How can I respond to that claim?

Well, my first instinct was to say, “With incredulous laughter”. . .but my second is to quite simply say, “I do not believe this is the case” and to ask your friends to pray for all people, that they might come to God and do His will.

Don’t argue, don’t justify yourself. . .just make your response and go on to do what God wants --prayer.

There are some ‘claims’ that don’t deserve a response because they are simply ‘unbelievable’. You do not HAVE to go into great detail to ‘prove for example’ that the Jesuits were NOT behind the assassination of Lincolm just because some person would buttonhole you and say, “What do you have to say about the Jesuits assassinating Lincoln”. . .because they DIDN"T DO IT. Thing is, you can’t ‘prove’ a negative.

Likewise you don’t have to ‘prove’ that the next Pope will not be the Antichrist just because somebody says, “The next pope is going to be the Antichrist”. . .because he WON’T be. Same thing, you can’t ‘prove’ a negative. 😃
 
I’m sure that every time there is a new Pope the “Is he the Antichrist” arises.
First of all, there is no way of knowing since a new Pope has not yet been elected.
Once a Pope gets elected, and serves a while, we can analyze his decisions and his way of being. His actions should point out if he is the Antichrist or not.
I for one doubt we will live to see the age of the Antichrist.
 
Similar claims were made in the time of the notoriously sinful and scandalous Pope Alexander VI (late 1400s - except they were saying he himself was the AC). I’d point this out to your friend and say that the claims were untrue then and are untrue now.

your friend should have evidence to back up his claim that these popes were evil.
friend is skating on very thin ice here. JP11 has one confirmed miracle to his credit, now if he were truly evil this would not be the case.
 
Ask your freind if he/she has a spiritual director and if possible get them to speak with someone in person who can help them.
There is more than meets the eye going on here.
