I’ve never heard of that before… but in any case, the Holy Father is only human. Jesus is the only one Who is both God and Man.

I don’t know… maybe there were some mystics who could hear peoples’ prayers from far away. For example, St. Pio would get visitors from Purgatory. So maybe that is why some people believe the Holy Father can hear their prayers. If I am not mistaken there have been Popes who had mystical experiences/gifts.

A Pope while protected by God in what he Teaches; always remains a “human person.”
[John 14:16-17 and John 17:15-19]. Therefore it is NOT posible for any Pope to “be Divine.”
A GREAT MANY Popes have been officially declaired as SAINTS; meaning: The Church has found signifiant merit in there lifes-example; and therefore they have been awarded verification of attaining heaven. BUT even this does not make “one----Devine.”
With OVER ONE BILLION Catholics World-wide; there exist some unaproved and rather strange practices by a few… BUT these are NOT indicitive of Chruch Teaching and Normal beliefs and practices.
Such a practice certainly is FALSE; Misleading; and one MIGHT even say “redicilious” or al least very silly. There is to Foundation for such a practice in CC doctrine, dogma; or practice.

So purgatory’s tenants actually took trips to St.Pio’s house, or was it the other way around? Was St.Pio trying to visit them? I think he saw them in visions. I’m not sure it actually means that those souls left Purgatory when they visited him, but somehow he was able to see them and (I think) hear them. I have even heard that he had more visitors from Purgatory than living visitors. I don’t know if he spoke to them.So purgatory’s tenants actually took trips to St.Pio’s house, or was it the other way around? Was St.Pio trying to visit them? Could he actually talk to them???

I sent several emails and never got any responses. Even if the Pope does not read the emails you might think one of the assistants or secretaries there might at least give a courtesy reply.

I was so happy when I found this thread. This is the ideal time for me to show you my viewpoint as a Roman Catholic papalist.
You’re probably wondering just what a “Papalist” is. I’ll explain it. I’m a devoted Catholic - I attend Mass on Sundays, Holy Days of Obligation and sometimes when I feel closest to God, I pray the Rosary once a day, I volunteer at my parish as an usher and I’m very strongly pro-life. My wife and I use NFP and have six kids (not because NFP doesn’t work, but because we are committed to having a proper marriage and raising children in love and the Faith).
Anyways, back to papalism. My wife is relatively young (29) and I’m only 30. She was raised in a regular Catholic house that wasn’t truly that devout - they skipped Mass sometimes, they hardly prayed, and the children weren’t taught a lot about their faith. Now, I moved from the Phillipines in 2004 and began a long journey that you can call my “joining the Catholic Church and leaving atheist life forever”. So, during RCIA, the priest was telling us about prayer and devotions to Our Lady or Jesus, maybe even the saint we chose for Confirmation. My fellow convertee Janice decided to begin daily devotion to the Sorrowful Mother. My brother (who converted before me) had always felt a pull to the Precious Blood. Myself, I felt a mystical tugging at the heartstrings that overwhelmed my soul and was at it’s strongest when I did the First Eucharist - to the Pope.
At night, when I prayed the Rosary, I offered the same intention over and over to the Virgin Mary - for her to protect and bring joy to the Holy Father. At first I simply prayed FOR Him. But that was not satisfying to my soul. I believe the grace of God has manifested itself in me and come to save the Pope from sorrow or enemies. So, I wanted to deepen my love for the Pope and made sure he knew how much I respected the leader of the Church.
I began daily papal worship, making up my own hymns and prayers and actually praying TO Him. At the beginning, it felt useless, but after a year or two, I was finally able to enter a deep meditative state where I was being guided by my confirmation saint, St. Alphonsus, and the Blessed Lady in the Vatican. I simply felt magical and so, so blessed to be with our Sacred Holy Father in holiness.
We talked and prayed to God together.
Never in my mind have I doubted He is the holiest man on the earth. He personally told me in a dream that His heart aches; he wants to lead the world and the Church in unison and save all souls, but so many fall into sin and offend Him. He especially feels sorrowful in regards to birth control: 90% of Catholic women use a method that He has banned because of his trust and faith in the Lord, and souls are being lost.
That man is the closest thing we have to God. We should praise God everyday for giving us our Holy Father, who is divine in soul and body.
This relationship has brought me immense peace and hope for salvation. It brings me closer to the Trinity, and of course angels and saints and Mary. My wife eevntually gave in, and she has experienced huge amounts of help. She used to be infertile, but like I said, we now have 6 kids!!!
I encourage every Catholic to begin a daily papal worship routine and teach it to their children as well. Hang a picture of the Pope up above the prayer table in your house (if you have one) and say this:
“Holy Father, guide our Church in truth and eternal grace. We are so incredibly blessed by the Lord to have you, the Divine Man, with us. I ask you for strength. Pray with me to Jesus and Our Lady. Glory be to our Pope, worthy of all worship, amen.”

Ellsy – may I suggest you discuss this with your parish priest? You appear to be going overboard in your prayer life and the connection to the Holy Father. Your priest will discuss this with you.

There isn’t a single true catholic that [worships] the pope. This is simply a false statement.
The pope is not…not divine. No catholic believes this either. This is simply a false statement.
There is no [magic] in prayer. That would be paganistic and idolatry. No catholic prays to the pope - instead catholics pray for the pope.
Next time you talk to this “confused catholic person”, enlighten him or her as to what you have learned here today and tell him or her to get their act together.

With devotion and prayer, things can get blurry as to what is worship and what is just veneration. The Holy Father is someone I pray FOR; at the end of my daily Rosary I offer a short prayer for his protection and ask Mary to intercede for him. But I do not worship a human being.
