Hey everyone. I am a member of another forum which a lot of different Christians visit. There are all kinds of Christians, including plenty of Catholics. Well, I seen a post where a moderator said that the position of their site is that the redemptive work of Christ is not yet finished. This makes no sense to me. I thought it was! Please help.

I think he means “salvific” work, not “redemptive” work. Everyone (100% of the human population) is 100% redeemed, but not everyone will be saved. Some people don’t know the difference (but “salvific” is a strange word, so they say “redemptive”).

I think he is referring to this passage:
Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in the sufferings of Christ, for the sake of his body, which is the church. [1Cor 1:24]
Paul is talking about the role we play in our own salvation. The sufferings of Christ alone do not save anyone, but they enable our salvation - we have our own role to play as well.

Of course, you could simply ask him. We’re just guessing.

That is the passage I guessed also.

It was the Epistle reading for last Sunday’s Mass. Strange (but not really) how I have never heard a priest mention this passage in his homily.
That was my thoughts also. They always take the easy way out by talking about Mary and Martha.

Thank you everyone for your answers. I appreciate them and you of course. 🙂
