Is the Society of St. Pius X in full communion?

Can you please clear up the question of whether the Society of Pius X is in full communion with the Church? My good friend attends a Pius X church and he believes that Pope Benedict XVI lifted the excommunications of the invalidly ordained Bishops of that Society. Would I be in schism to attend a Pius X church and is there any update as to the status of the lifting of the excommunication by Pope Benedict? Thank you for your time and help in understanding this matter.
