I know a lot of the Society of SPX, but I’ve never known how to ‘label’ it. If you wanted to tell an outsider how an ordinary Catholic is different than an SSPX Catholic, how would you do it?
I would say “.They are not a Catholic Organization” and leave it at that!I know a lot of the Society of SPX, but I’ve never known how to ‘label’ it. If you wanted to tell an outsider how an ordinary Catholic is different than an SSPX Catholic, how would you do it?
Yeah okay. I’m sick of these SSPX threads.I would say “.They are not a Catholic Organization” and leave it at that!
Being sick doesn’t make it go away!Yeah okay. I’m sick of these SSPX threads.
Then don’t read them? I don’t mean that as critically as it probably sounds, but if you are sick of the subject, why even click on a link with the subject and then take the time to respond that you are sick of it?Yeah okay. I’m sick of these SSPX threads.
So the Orthodox are a Catholic organization as well because the Church spends a lot of time talking to them. They are a Catholic organization and the Church views them as such. If they were not Catholic, the Church would be spending zero time trying to talk with them in the first place.
The SSPX are indeed a Catholic organization and the Church considers them as such. They do not deny the primacy of the Holy Father, are not sedevacantists in any degree, accept Pope Benedict XVI as the Pope, but do have various doctrinal issues with the Vatican. They and the Vatican are currently in talks to try to iron these things out. They have valid orders and confect a valid Eucharist. They do not have facilities in any Diocese that I am aware of but the Church considers them to be part of the Catholic Church. They are in what is termed an irregular status within the Church. At one point the Church did excommunicate their founder and four Bishops that he consecrated without Vatican consent. The founder has long since passed away and the excommunications on the four Bishops have been recently lifted.I would say “.They are not a Catholic Organization” and leave it at that!

That is really all that day to be said on the subject. And it has been said ad nauseum on this as well as other forums.
If you want to see an “agenda of Disobedience”, visit a few Jesuit colleges sometime.Completly incorrect!
My information came from the Church.
What is truly amazing is the constant agenda of Disobedience that this subject draws from the uninformed!
They are not a Catholic Orginization.
Got any references you’d like to share?Completly incorrect!

The SSPX is a Catholic organization because it considers itself such, it uses Catholic liturgical rites, it has a Catholic structure, and it is no secret that they are talking to the hierarchy at this very moment in history about being reintegrated with the mainstream Church. I don’t know if the Orthodox Churches consider themselves Catholic and I’m not really sure of their status regarding how they view the papacy, so I don’t really care to talk about that, but I don’t imagine the average Orthodox person considers himself Catholic. However, I don’t actually know. The average SSPXer does consider himself Catholic. That’s the difference, and is what matters. So the Orthodox are a Catholic organization as well because the Church spends a lot of time talking to them.
This is not correct. It is an unofficial organization of Catholics, but it is not a Catholic organization, which term has a defined canonical meaning and is not satisfied by the SSPX.The SSPX is a Catholic organization because it considers itself such, it uses Catholic liturgical rites, it has a Catholic structure, and it is no secret that they are talking to the hierarchy at this very moment in history about being reintegrated with the mainstream Church.
Oops. Well I didn’t know that was canonically defined, as it seemed a bit vague of a term. I didn’t mean it in its official sense. This is not correct. It is an unofficial organization of Catholics, but it is not a Catholic organization, which term has a defined canonical meaning and is not satisfied by the SSPX.
If not then why does the Church eagerly want them to come into a regular status with Church as a group instead of as individuals?Completly incorrect!

Could you point me to where this definition can be found? This is not correct. It is an unofficial organization of Catholics, but it is not a Catholic organization, which term has a defined canonical meaning and is not satisfied by the SSPX.
See generally CIC nos. 298-329. The SSPX was at one time a pious union canonically organized within the Diocese of Fribourg, Germany, but its pious union status was withdrawn in 1975 and its canonical existence ended.Could you point me to where this definition can be found?
