Not sure on all the specifics of this prophecy, but I did hear that part of it was the “Pope of the Olives would retire.” Now, Benedict XVI has been identified (supposedly) as the Pope of the Olives because of Benedictine (symbol for olives). I am just wondering how the Catholic Church views this prophecy and is it being “fulfilled?”

No.

For starters, the purported prophecy only gives brief vague descriptions, none of which mention anything about anyone retiring. Secondly, the “prophecy” you are referring to describes a Pope as only “glory of the olive.”

As the Catholic Encyclopedia notes: “The silence of 400 years on the part of so many learned authors who had written about the popes, and the silence of St. Bernard especially, who wrote the ‘Life of St. Malachy’, is a strong argument against their authenticity.”

And as Jesus said: “But of that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.” (Matthew 24:36)
