Is the use of the birth control pill for an ovarian cyst okay?

Hi,

It looks like my wife may have an ovarian cyst. From what the doctors say and what I find on-line it looks like taking the birth control pill for a little while helps reduce/elimiate this. We’re using NFP currently and plan on continuing doing so. In this case, is it permissalbe for medical reasons to use the birth control pill for the period recommended by a doctor to alleviate an ovarian cyst?
