I was on another site and asked a question about what people thought about Catholicism and they said that the Catholic Church had more wealth than other nations or something to that extent.

Often they’re thinking about the artistic riches and suggesting that the Church sell them and give the money to the poor.I was on another site and asked a question about what people thought about Catholicism and they said that the Catholic Church had more wealth than other nations or something to that extent.
How true!Another issue with feeding the world’s poor is that money is often not the issue - it’s corrupt and weak governments which either don’t want the aid distributed to their people, or which can’t/won’t prevent the food from being stolen and sold.
Actually, the Vatican is operating in the red. All those art works, statues, and buildings require routine maintenance which are very costly. They are also considered priceless artifacts. Now, one might say that the Vatican can sell them all, but where would they go? Obviously, they’ll go to museums scattered throughout the world. Then instead of being able to go to one single place to see them all, then people would have to travel all over the world to separate museums to see them. That would be a major inconvenience and expense for academics, historians, archaeologists, college students, and all of humanity. So, the money that is gained by it to be put in service to the poor, will be lost sevenfold by the cost of transporting them safely, displaying and maintaining them in museums, and all the travel expenses for tourists and researchers. The Vatican maintains these things for all of humanity, not for personal profit. Any profit that is gained through tourism is put back into service to maintain these things, for spreading the faith to the world which is most important, and providing material assistance to the poor which is secondary to the salvific gospel message.I was on another site and asked a question about what people thought about Catholicism and they said that the Catholic Church had more wealth than other nations or something to that extent.
No way…I never heard of that…Ethiopia decided to CHARGE the USA a $20 a ton import fee for food WE were giving to their starving people. Otherwise, they would not let the food in.
