What do Jehovah’s Witnesses mean by their translation of John 1:1 that “the Word was a god”?
 
This creative translation of John 1:1 is meant to enable Jehovah’s Witnesses to deny the divinity of Christ, which is clearly demonstrated by the correct translation “the Word was God.”
