My boyfriend is Catholic and has been divorced for 4 years. He recently got the paperwork for an annulment, however he just informed me that he doubts it will be granted. The reason for his divorce is adultery. My boyfriend is a changed man because of his divorce and it brought him closer to God. He is ashamed and this event in his life has turned him around into the person God would want him to be. He told me that the only way his annulment would maybe be approved is if he lied and that he will not lie. His ex wife is now remarried. Is there a chance that he would be granted an annulment?
Thanks

Hi,

That the divorce was the result of adultery would not affect his chances for an annulment one way or the other. The possibility of being granted an annulment depends completely on the circumstances that were present at the wedding: the psychological maturity of the parties involved, how freely the made the choice to marry, etc. So it sounds like it may still be possible for him to be granted an annulment. You both are in our prayers.
