I sometimes wonder if it’s even a mental problem, I’m never rested and I don’t eat well. Maybe there’s some vitamins I should be taking.(
There have been some great suggestions, but diet and rest are foundational. That’s where I’d work first. Eating right and getting sufficient sleep can make a dramatic difference.

Sleep well… eat foods with Zinc… Shellfish is a good source unless you’re allergic. I eat a lot of clams or oysters to help me boost memory… also exercise your brain once in a while.

Do you have a hard time getting yourself organized as well? Maybe talk to your doctor about adult ADD and see what he says…
Yes I would definately get tested for ADHD or ADD. I have a mild version of it myself and believe me I understand the embarresment of forgetting things…I do it constantly and used to hate myself for it. I’ve learned to accept it as part of living with ADHD and I’ve heard that there are certain things like St. Johns Wart that may help. I’ve also noticed I do better with lots of rest, healthy eating and exercise. 👍

Get an adequate amount of rest, and be diligent in maintaining a schedule. A firm schedule will help train your brain to anticipate what’s coming next. As for your diet, cut down on the carbs and sugar which can make you sleepy if you’re not exercising to burn them off. Eat lean protien, and leafy greens. Drink plenty of water.

In your free time, try playing memory games like solitaire. It will exercise that part of your mind.

Take note of those days which you seem to be really forgetful, and try to find any comonalities, like in the amount of rest you may have had, what you’ve eaten, or schedule changes.

Don’t let yourself dwell in the negative, don’t beat yourself up about it! Have patience with yourself, even if nobody else seems to!😃

I would second all the above, especially about sleep and diet except for the shellfish and oysters. They are notoriously high in heavy metals-lead and cadmium. Heavy metals acumulate in the body and are poisonous. The bones of Florida Indians have been examined from 200 years ago and found to be high in these metals due to their high intake of shrimp and oysters.

As far as diet, I would add eating 1-2 teaspoons of tumeric added to rice or potato per day and drinking purple grape juice and berries and cherries, etc. Exercise helps, too.

If you do make lists, post-it notes, or whatever, get in the habit of checking it often, like every couple hours, or like after break and lunch. If it feels you are checking it too much, it’s good, there is never seems to be problems if you don’t forget, it’s only when you do forget.

i don’t remember ANYTHING because i don’t have to.
I carry a little notepad of paper and a pen everywhere i go. i write everything down, and every night, before i stop working, i make a list for myself of things i have to do the next day. and i have a little clipboard i keep on my door of upcoming things i have to remember.

write EVERYTHING down. then you don’t have to worry about forgetting anything.

I saw a movie in which the protagonist wrote important stuff on his body. And he woke up in the morning and couldn’t remember anything … but then he would look in the mirror and wonder what was going on and … he would start reading and (more or less) bring himself up to date.

[what WAS the name of that movie???]
