Never – as the acknowledged St John Paul II has not, quoted on innumerable occasions with great approval which includes:Robert Sock #141
When you say ‘free enterprise’ do you mean ‘unregulated?’
“Economic activity is indeed but one sector in a great variety of human activities, and like every other sector, it includes the right to freedom, as well as the duty of making responsible use of freedom.” Centesimus Annus, 32].
And further condemned the Ayn Rand type rubbish:
“Hardly useful as her definition and meaning of “uncontrolled and unregulated” is quite unacceptable as the State has the right and duty to make wise laws, and that’s why we have laws to seek and punish those who steal, cheat, swindle, and against monopolies as people can, and some do, undermine the common good, and the primary role of government is to support families in solidarity, and the role of the Church in subsidiarity and, yes, the common good.”
What he tilts at has never existed in any society or country, only in the minds of a few economists; he is thus unable to point to any unregulated *laissez-faire *market. There is no such thing as “unregulated capitalism”.
