Is there a good Bible dictionary?

I’m reading through the Old Testament a little and I was wondering if anyone knew of a good, at-a-glance Bible dictionary.

It’s kind of hard to keep all the names and places straight sometimes, and it would be nice to have something for quick reference.

Anyone?
 
The best dictionary of the Bible is John L. McKenzie’s Dictionary of the Bible. There are other good ones but this one stands out.
 
Here are four suggestions, all of which I own and use:

Finally, if you are going to focus on Paul, I would recommend an evangelical work called the “Dictionary of Paul and His Letters” by IVP. yes the dictionary of biblical theology from wordamongus.com I am about to order my 3rd copy it keeps getting borrowed and I never see it again, I consider it along with my concordance, an indispensible reference book.

This is the one I have and, while helpful and orthodox, it leans a lttle too heavily in presenting the theories of biblical historical criticism as if it were doctrine or the only Catholic understanding of the Scriptures. If you like the NAB footnotes or the New Jerome Bible Commentary, you’ll probably like McKenzie.

I am looking with anticipation toward the day when Scott Hahn releases his Bible dictionary which he has been working on for several years.
 
I like and use the Harper Bible Dictionary.

Also, Baker publishing has a commentary and dictionary that are both quite good.
 
HI, agood bible dictionary, one that I use, is the Smith’s bible dictionary, you can get one cheap for about 15 bucks, its not necessarily catholic but it does keep all the names and places straight, the name are even translated to give their english meaning, hope that helps.:tiphat:
