Is there a medical technique that can discourage young people from depending on slot machines?

I don’t know if it’s a local problem of some countries where almost every cities corner has slot machines.
but these slot machines make people sick. There are just dependent people (I had to meet such people) who having cash immediately run to spend it in slot machines.
Is there a method of treatment for such people?
It seems to me that this dependence is identical to the dependence on computer games, after all, in one and in the other case means financial gain.
 
Addiction is Addiction. Thus the affliction. Wether it be drugs, alcohol, sex, food, gambling or work. Yes I said work. Workaholic, Alcoholic if it controls you or you depend on something to get a high or lift you up until you fall flat on your face (and trust me you will) addiction to anything is horrible and IT IS DISEASE…However there is help but you have to want help and hold yourself accountable (that doesn’t mean beat yourself up) and you also have to believe in a higher power that’s bigger than yourself. But these “slot on a lot” places are awful and marriages have ended, savings have been wiped out. They draw you in with free cash for play or a trip or whatever the hell they find works best to get ppl in the door. I pray that people find the strength to stay away (if you are addicted to one thing you are likely to become addicted to anything that sets those endorphins into overdrive. I am not an expert but an addict in recovery. My drug of choice was pain meds. I have lupus and RA. 20 years ago doctors could write a script for 500 Vicodin like it was candy. Stay Strong…
 
I know a few cases where addiction to slot machines has destroyed families and destroyed lives. It is especially sad and tragic to see this happen to very young people.
 
Gambling addiction is a recognized addiction, just like alcohol addiction, drug addiction, sex addiction, shopping addiction etc. There is a “Gamblers Anonymous” organization just like there is Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. The treatments are the same.

The addicted person needs to want to get help though, as it requires them to make the efforts to go to meetings and stop gambling.
 
It seems to me that the brain of these people works as well as drug addicts.
 
As said above, there are many different addictions out there. The real question to the addicted or the potential to be addicted person: are you in charge of it or is it in charge of you? Help is only possible when the addicted person fully admits it is in charge. The brain wiring in addicts of all stripes is often set to favor the addiction and that makes it doubly difficult to break. This is what is happening when we hear about someone who backslid after a period of abstinence. They were never cured in the first place, they may never be cured and the only response for some will be active avoidance.
 
Treatments for addiction in general have a high recidivism rate. It’s a bad disease.

There really isn’t any magical medical treatment we can do to stop it. Working an “Anonymous” program is one of the few things that does work for some people.
 
Yeah, kind of what I was trying to say. Addiction is very difficult to treat and we don’t have any super great solution right now.

Addictions also have an extremely high comorbidity rate. People who are depressed or anxious often turn to addictive behaviors as a way to manage their own emotions. The disorders can get into a difficult to break feedback loop.
 
The best way to counteract the slot machines is to gather all parents, volunteers, people of good will and start a war against those who spread the city with slot machines.
In many countries of the world criminal, semi-criminal elements, corruption-politicians, and the corruption-police control this business.
Here large amounts of money are washed, here people become zombies, families are destroyed, even sometimes a wife with children or a mother is on the street because of gamblers - a son or father of the family.
One thing sports lotteries, or other forms of lottery, but the slot machines and casinos it’s just a tragedy for many families and souls.
