Is there a minimum age for Extraordinary Ministers?

If so does it vary by archdiocese? Or does the national college of cardinals have a recommendation?
 
In the Archdiocese of Detroit it’s high school age (and assumes Confirmation).

Typically it is anytime after confirmation, with each diocese setting any age requirements beyond that.

BTW, there is a national bishops’ conference, but there is no national college of cardinals. There is one college of cardinals for the world. 😉

In our diocese it is 18 years of age, or a Senior in HS if you go to a Catholic HS
 
Confirmation around here. So they start 16-17ish or so if they choose too.
 
I know one of my granddaughters and several of her friends were commissioned as Extraordinary Ministers at age 16, but they were all students at the Catholic High School. I don’t know if our diocese has a different age limit for other kids…
 
It was wonderful to read the other postings on this forum. In my parish we have a great many 8-12 year old servers that simply don’t get the job done. Rather than change the requirements, we focus on getting rid of our 100 year old processional crucifix and lavabo set because they are “too heavy” for some of the new servers.

I have seen “junior servers” shadow older and well seasoned servers to learn what to do, but this is totally different. Having 8-12 year old servers also tends to turn-off the 16+ year old crowd as well. In my parish it’s some frenzied moms who push the 8-12 group.
 
Wow I guess there is no minimum age as long as they are confirmed. I can see where older members of the parish might object to the very young ones but it is what it is. Thank you all who replied.

No, this is not correct.

Discipline is talking about altar servers, not EMHCs.

Discipline, this thread is not about altar servers. This thread is about extraordinary ministers of holy communion.
 
they must be confirmed, but the bishop is free to set an older age. here confirmaton is 16, but EMHCs must be 18, and fully trained in the diocesan course (right, now there is something I would like to see implemented, in my dreams).
 
IMHO, there has to be an age limit.

My diocese age for confirmation is 11~12 yo (grade six)
I have no fear of seeing that low of an age for EMHC in my parish because they are all elderly men 60 yo and up. 🙂
