I WANT TO KNOW IF THERE IS A PATRON SAINT TO PRAY TO FOR THE GIFT OF FORGIVNESS? I AM HAVING A HARD TIME FORGIVING SOMEONE AND WAS WONDERING IF THERE IS A PATRON SAINT FOR THIS.

The one who comes to my mind is Saint Maria Goretti, who at a young age (12, I think?) was stabbed to death by a man who was attempting to rape her. Maria forgave her assailant before she died. Her feast day was just a couple of days ago (July 6). See the following link for more info:

Jesus Himself who forgave his executioners

St. Maria Goretti… died at age 12, after forgiving the man who had assaulted her.

St. Maximilian Kolbe… who died in a Nazi Concentration Camp. He volunteered to take the place of another prisoner, sentanced to death. And in a way, because of St. Maximilian’s heroic Christian Charity… that prisoner received “forgiveness”… of his death penalty (even though, it was unjustly inflicted by evil men).

And of course, the primary example… is Our dear Lord, Himself. As He forgave those who were torturing Him… and putting Him to death.

“And Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing’.” (Luke 23:34)
