Is there a race problem in America?

Lot’s of very reassuring posts from white posters today indicating racism is not a problem.

“Silentwitness” I think yours might be the post of the thread! From it I’ve learned that if we do have a race problem in this country, it’s because minorities haven’t learned to deal with it correctly! Sadly even after lifelong experience they havent figured it out, but no worries you’ve got it all sorted from living overseas! The answer: act like someone who’s not even living in you’re own country! If you experience racism pretend it’s something else! Sure you could try and stand up for your rights, those of your children, and the fellow citizens who look like you, but if you do that you’d be causing racism! No, spend your whole life living like you are in a foreign country and the problem is solved! You’re friendly Christian attitude will protect you from abuse. Poster silentwitness is sad you didn’t figure this out before, but he understands your culture just isnt Christian enough to stop itself from experiencing racism by telling itself no racism is occurring!

Got it poster Adamhovey1988! The only people who are racist are ones who obsess over race! Kind of too bad for someone who experiences so much racism he/she thinks or talks about it alot. That person is now one of “the only people who are racist.”

Also too bad for someone very interested in opposing racism! Do it too much and they are also one of "the only people who are racist.

However this is GREAT news for people who would prefer to ignore or turn a blind eye to racism! Under your definition they arent among the “only” racists! They are good to go because they dont obsess about race amirite!

In spite of recent events which were exacerbated by some bad apples in the police force (bad apples which need to be rooted out), race relations as a whole have progressed in the U.S. in a positive way in my lifetime (I am 62) although there is still a lot more work to be done. We’re not there yet.

After all, African American Barack Obama was elected president twice in the first part of this century by a majority white nation, which would’ve been unheard of 50 or 60 years ago.

In my opinion, progress continues to be made along with setbacks rooted in a sinful mankind, but negative events always capture the headlines.

Why don’t they ever cover it when black and white churches work together on community projects? How about when black and white neighbors share a neighborhood pool in peace like mine does and people get along well? That wouldn’t be as attractive to the news networks - is why.
That wouldn’t be as attractive to or as sensational for the networks as the more explosive stuff, but it would certainly be more helpful to society if positive stories were reported more often. It might also be more reassuring to the African American communities if it were publicized that blacks and whites (and other ethnic groups) could and do enjoy good friendships and work well together on worthwhile projects.

Still, however, racism is a genuine issue in this country, and it’s high time we pulled our heads out of the sand and addressed it fairly and honestly.

The point is that if you have Christian principles in your heart you overcome any racism that is there. You conquer it so that it disappears and you don’t mistakenly create it by assuming the worst in others.

As the teaching of the apostles says
There are two Ways, one of Life and one of Death, and there is a great difference between the two Ways.
One is Christian principles and the other is secular identity politics principles.

One creates love and peace and the other creates hate and division.

You certainly don’t kneel to a divisive political creed that needs for there to be animosity between people in order to exist.

You seem to answer your own question. But no I dont think we have a racist problem in this country.

We do have a police brutality problem in this country. You can find over and over recording of police using physical force well beyond what is call for in the situation. It doesnt seem that race played a part in those situations.

Racism is real. Our bishops call it a sin. Why would they call out a sin that doesn’t even exist? That would be like saying it’s a sin to pet pink unicorns. 🤷‍♀️

I feel the left have created a race problem out of nothing in order to create divisionism so they can politicize it and make themselves the solution.

Racism exists because sin exist. Is police brutality racist or is the US institutionally racist? Thats proven to be false. White privilege doesn’t exist, it only exists with the self hating left would want to cover their own failures that their social changes brought about. Communities are worse off even with more funding and democrat leaders because they have lost their Christian identity and the family unit has been assaulted to the point it’s no longer valued. The welfare state has replaced it

To all you Americans buying into this, get off your knees, stop hating yourselves, grow up and start working on trying to unify the division those in the media are profiting from. As Christians we know how sin is healed, through daily personal conversion, not through some Marxist Utopia. The answer lies solely with Christ and each individual making right choices

I’m glad to hear you acknowledge this. What are some examples of racism against ethnic minorities that you see in our society?

How? Did you ask the perpetrating officers what was going through their minds? Do you trust them to tell the truth?

Racism is real. Watch the video if you doubt me, and follow the citations.
Mothers need to take for granted that their sons won’t be unjustly shot or strangled by those sworn “to protect and serve.” This is a reasonable demand, not a “Marxist Utopia.”

We can’t wait around for these officers to “make good choices” “through daily personal conversion” while Americans suffer from police brutality.

I don’t think you have read what Black lives Matter stand for but like the ultra left feminists they do not stand just for equality, they have a narrative and blame what they claim is the white patriarchal society for all of society’s problem. They are using this for an agenda. The left invoke identity politics as a weapon to use against those who don’t agree with them. I’m white, i’ve gotten into debates with people who say i can’t even have a opinion because of my white privilege, by WHITE people. I grew up in a country where we were oppressed just as much, all their rhetoric does is push people towards the likes of Trump.

Can you imagine telling a white single mother working 2 minimum wage jobs that she has white privilege? This looniness from the left, the self hate, i notice it everywhere with them. it’s become more prevalent. Whats worse is that 40 millions Americans lost their jobs in 9 weeks due to covid-19. Churches closed under threat of PERMANENT closure by the New York mayor and then you have that same mayor calling these protests essential while religion is not and people are on a Catholic forum defending this movement. Lunacy

Racism, is real but is it systemic, no it’s not, it’s not even a factor of why these communities have such a high crime rate and police brutality exists among whites aswell, the stats show just as much, of course they don’t matter
