If you are already Catholic, you understand that it is the one true Church, so why would you want to think about any other Faiths? You are already Home, so why would you look further? I don’t get the point of the question either. It is a only question, for the sake for making you think about other faiths
No need to get upset. I just don’t get it. Also, I admit that I know almost nothing about any other faiths. I have no idea what most other religions believe. I’m not even sure which ones are Christian. (For example–and please feel free to correct me if I am wrong because I really don’t know–I had no idea that JW are not Christian until recently. Then I read or heard something within the last few months that indicated that they think that Jesus is not the Christ. What is true about what JWs believe or not believe? Who knows, certainly not me.) I am a cradle Catholic and I never had a need to learn about other religions, so I am almost totally ignorant about them. I feel I have all I need, so why seek anything else?I just like to discuss things is that OK?..sheesh
When the Catholic Church is the only true Church and the one which has the fullness of truth why would you be interested in other faiths?I happen to be interested in all faiths, not just the one I chose…I am curious about what draws people to a certain one over another
What exactly does that mean?Because I happen to be Thistle, you can be a loyal child of the church and still have an inquiring mind
I don’t think I need to defend myself to you nor anyone else….There is a difference in being a Catholic and being a bigot as far as other religions go…Pope John Paul II knew this
That statement doesn’t really jibe very well with established Catholic teaching and theology. It means exactly what I said…There is nothing wrong in admiring or being interested in others walk with God
God decides how he reveals Himself to others, we don’t. We only know how He has revealed Himself to us
I don’t doubt that many Catholics believe what they said. In fact, I’m sure millions do. That however doesn’t make it any more true. It is a sad fact that all too often people believe error. They believe error, have believed error and will continue to believe error. Every heresy that ever existed grew out of error. If I am not mistaken that is even alluded to in scripture and we are warned to be vigilant and on the look out for error and false teachers for they will arise.Actually Fr Groeshel has said this more than once… so did Mother Theresa…
Then you reject a doctrine of the Church, which, according to the dogmatic teaching of Popes and Councils, means you won’t be going to heaven. They were speaking for Christians…I don’t believe that non Christians will not go to heaven
The individual doesn’t decide what to believe - we submit to what the Church teaches. EWTN is not the authority on matters of doctrine - Councils and Popes are.You decide what you beleive and I will decide what I believe…it seems people on this board think they should interpret eveyones belief in God and salvation
I don’t care what others think. I will listen to people that are on EWTN
