Why Islam over Judaism? I would assume that you’d want to at least start with a religion that at least at one point had a covenant with God.
I would prefer Orthodox Judaism to Islam. If the question had been “What religion would you prefer to be born into?” I would have picked Orthodox Judaism. However, I don’t believe they accept converts, if I’m not mistaken.
The other branches of Judaism, the reformed branch and all of that.I want no part of that, because I’m acquainted with it and it doesn’t seem focused on the religion of Judaism, but rather the social/ethnic aspects of it only.
I also would have picked Orthodox Christianity, but with it being so close to Catholicism, it’s viability as an option would render the original question pointless.
I ended up picking Islam, because of the fidelity to the Koran that I’ve seen in Muslims. They are very spiritual people, and while obviously I am opposed to their religion with every bone of my body, at least they state what they believe without resorting to qualifiers and desire to share the whole truth with others, unlike most Christians I’ve known.
I’m a little surprised that some of you guys are picking Quakers. My wife was baptized Quaker (it was an invalid Baptism. She had to be baptized again by our Priest), and it seems to be the direct opposite of Catholicism, at least as far as Christianity goes.
What I’ve gathered is that they don’t even have preachers, or and that they basically push a mamby-pamby kind of Christianity, in which there’s no real sin. Pretty much seemed like the temporal Democratic Party dogma instead of objective Christian truth to me. I’m not criticizing. Just wondering why you guys would like it so much. I’m just wondering why you would consider one of the most “liberal” institutions of all time, when you currently belong to the most traditional institution in history.
