is there any web site or list of catholic social projects and charity organizations ?

Actually, there are quite a few.

So many, in fact, that just keeping track would be a full-time job for many people.

There may even be a list somewhere, but we can easily make up our own list.

Here is a friendly article from Wiki:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_missions

We can start with this.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Society_for_the_Propagation_of_the_Faith

The Society for the Propagation of the Faith … “the missions” … does both spiritual and corporal works of mercy all over the world.

thanks a lot
I am ex-protestant and now in the catholic church
i noticed that some societies , especially the society where i live , needs more devoted christian people to save its vices , to heal its enjuries , and to cure its spiritual and social problems.

street prostitution
hungry homeless people
alkochol and drugs addicts
homeless kids

also , may be there are some unique and original projects which some one knows , and can add to this thread

i think that if to mobilize the protestant community to serve the society by social missions , it will be just great

i would like also to ask another question

does any one knows ( by calculation ) how much money cost the CRUSADES of Evangelization , like on Stadiums … ?
Is it not more wise , to invest the energy , money , spiritual and material means to MORE WISE ways of Evangelization ?
Yes , there are countries which are hungry for the Word of God and American Evangelists are doing a great job by preaching there , but there are countries where these Evangelizations do not gather many people , its already does not work out , and I would say , in a big measure its just a waste of money.
So , I want to study more constructive wys to evangelize our society by doing ‘’ social ministry ‘’ based on deeds not on words , and ‘’ the deeds are greater than words ‘’ !!!

any thoughts about this ?

Catholic Vision is a handbook updated every year by Catholic Relief Services and others that list charitable and missionary projects in which a Catholic layperson can become involved in a hands-on way, they also have a website.

Wonderful info, annie. Thanks.

Now I’ll add one more organization.

SETON INSTITUTE, sponsored by the Daughters of Charity
is requesting (this Christmas) from St. Louis HQ, that donations
be made to insure clean drinking water for all in Guatemala.

Their very effective appeal:

“In 14th century Europe, one-third of the population died from the plague.
In 21st century Guatemala, one-third of all children under five dies from the common cold.”

IOW, “Unsafe water not only casues chrinic diarrhea that kills children,
it weakens them to the point where they die from even the chronic cold.”
Code:
Seton Institute

good reference, they are also one of the best sources for reliable information about water, drinking water, bottled water and related issues that affect availability of clean water in poor areas.

Thank you, annie.
I didn’t know that.

did not get a chance to post a link to Catholic volunteer Network
catholicvolunteernetwork.org/
their magazine used to be called Visions, it is something else now, but the website is more helpful than the magazine/catalog and lets you search by geographic area, types of ministry, term of service, training and requirements, age and gender of volunteers welcome etc.
