Is there any way for non-Mormons to opt out of post-humous baptism?

Something similar to the do-not-call list or having your phone # de-listed by google? I think it would only be fair.

Unfortunately not…but if it’s any consolation, the individual isn’t present and hasn’t consented (since they are dead), so it is really a meaningless ritual (well, it is anyway…but it is even *more *meaningless for a dead person 😉 ).
 
From what I understand…if the mormons baptise us after our death we still have the option of rejecting the baptism.

This was explained to me by my FIL who used to be a mormon bishop…but if I am wrong I am sure that any number of the LDS that visit here will set me straight. 🙂

The basic concept is that when someone is baptized for the dead they are offered a gift. They can do whatever they want with it. It’s contrary to LDS doctrine and everything I understand about more traditional Christian beliefs for anyone (perhaps baring God) to force someone to do anything or go anywhere whither it be haven or hell.
 
Since it’s invalid, nothing needs to be done to remove it.
 
I know it’s a meaningless ritual, and mormon baptisms aren’t valid christian baptisms anyway. But that whole baptism for the dead thing is just freaking insulting, and rude. If I wanted to be a mormon I’d convert. Don’t wait until I’m dead and can’t say no for myself.
 
They don’t ask people if they can baptize their deceased relatives, so I don’t expect asking them to remove you will do any good.
