Catholic Church is AWESOME. I absolutely love it.

But the one thing I dislike is those people who seem to always have those aggravating pro-choice remarks.

I LOVE being a Catholic! I wouldn’t want to be a part of any other faith.

neither would i… but i would like being Catholic a whole lot more if the “liberal Catholics” (no such thing:rolleyes:) would “be a part of… [another] faith.”

another thing i don’t like about being Catholic:

those who claim to be Catholic but can’t even seem to do the minimum required… to deserve the “label”…

Liberals do the Church a great disservice, though most of them probably think they are serving God rightly. We’ll just have to pray every day for their conversion and for our Church. We can’t kick out the liberals, although some have actually excommunicated themselves in God’s eyes by not accepting the Church’s dormatic teaching, I’m afraid.

I dislike this thread.
I agree. But I’ve lived in places where it’s practically a crime to be Catholic, too. The only thing I can think of would be Being hated simply because of my Faith. This is the same reason why I don’t understand prejudism. I cannot wrap my head around hating someone because of their beliefs or because of the color of their skin!!! Of course, I’m also currently living a predominently not white area so I am currently being hated because I’m white. But I love my Catholic Faith! Strongly, deeply, devoutly!👍

i dislike being celibate…

but i also like being celibate… (it means i don’t have to deal with men :D)

i don’t like that non-Catholics don’t understand…

i don’t like feeling like an alien…

other than that, i can’t think of much else i don’t like…
The fact that if I were to get married children would be expected. I don’t want them. Period.

That’s about it. I got over the being celibate part. 😛

you probably have never had anychildren?

i realize children are a lot of work… but children are as close as we get to God in this world… jesus said we must become like them…

i don’t want to kick them out… they need the Church more than we devout Catholics do…

i just wish they’d shut their trap… or not get so  w hen we argue w/ them…

there is this other weird thing ab out being Catholic

it seems that some are good at being Catholic (going by the rubrics of the Mass, etc… etc)

but they aren’t good at being Christians… (self included at times…)

just a thought… not sure i have time to explain…

but i doubt i have to…

Many of us “liberal” Catholics feel the same. 😉

No, I have not had children, I said I don’t want them, right? 😉 And I don’t believe your last statement about children are as close to God as we can get.

Exactly.

Like those “devout” Catholics who want liberal Catholics to leave, or think we need the church more than they do, or think we do a disservice to the Church.

I am sorry for the pain you seem to be speaking from. I know that your devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus has helped you to accept living a chaste life. Not all are called to marriage and family life. God has a beautiful plan for you, of that you can be very certain.
Thank you for sharing your personal struggle, though, it helps us all to pray for the needs of all those who suffer in one way or another. That’s why the Catholic Church that Jesus Himself gave us, is such an awesome GIFT!! :blessyou:

Uhm, what makes you think I am speaking from pain? I am not, I assure you. 😉 I have no “pain” in saying I don’t want children. It is a myth to think that if someone does not want children they must be in some sort of pain.

I am perfectly ok with not having nor wanting children and I promise you I do not struggle.

BTW, I do plan on getting married. 😉 And there will be no pain or anguish if I have no children.

Statements like yours actually really annoy me. People assume that if someone doesn’t want a child they must have some sort of anguish, pain, or something else. It’s perfectly normal not to want children.

If you are Catholic and plan to get married, openness to children is a Divine mandate and privilege. The love between a husband and a wife who are living a generous life, by God’s grace, will naturally desire that their love will bear fruit through the gift of children, if they are able to achieve that, given their age and health. Otherwise, their love can bear fruit in making a “total gift” of themselves to each other, while allowing God to inspire and work through them to build up the Body of Christ through service.
I didn’t mean to insinuate that you are* troubled*, as much as I felt that the way you expressed your* disdain* for children, was* troubling*.
If you were annoyed, my apologies. Peace be with you!

Yes, I get that and what the Church teaches. It is actually one of the reasons I stayed away for so long because I don’t agree with it. However, it doesn’t mean that I would subvert what God’s will for me would be were I to get married.

I am open to what God’s will is for me regardless of whether I am married or not. And if I were to get married and God were to deem me to have children, then so be it. It doesn’t mean I want them. Which is why I said I would be perfectly happy and have no anguish were I to NOT have children. I also don’t believe that just because someone loves someone there is a “natural desire” to want to bear someone’s children.

I consider it a “church teaching” that I am willing to submit to as a Catholic but it doesn’t mean I like it or even want it.
