Ok, I want to know your opinions on this. Is this exerpt accurate?
Although nearly all of the world’s 1 billion Catholics have cheered his defense of human rights, the Pope drew criticism from within his own flock for his resolute opposition to contraception, gay marriages and women priests. from this article: reuters.myway.com/article/20050202/2005-02-02T140654Z_01_N02380990_RTRIDST_0_NEWS-POPE-DC.html
I don’t disagree that there might be a few who have a problem with the Pope’s (and hence The Catholic Church’s) opposition to contraception, gay marriage, and women priests. But is this so overwhelming that this paragraph must be inserted into an article (about his health)?
Honestly, to me it appears to be a way to take a swipe at Catholics (and our oh so politically incorrect views on these subjects).
What are your opinions? I certainly don’t see the church changing it’s stance on ANY of these issues. Nor should it.
