Is there Salvation outside the Church?
The Council of Trent says no. Pope Benedict XVI said there is only One Church; the other separated christian communities in their various protestant expressions can not rightly be called “church” because there is only One True Church founded by Christ.
Vatican Council II seems to imply, and the New Catechism, says that there is Salvation outside the Church.
Some Pastors today who are otherwise orthodox and would be trusted, are given to a rather vague and ‘spiritualistic’ answer to the question of Salvation and how to unite ‘todays teaching’ with the teaching of the Council of Trent.
Seems to me we used to be more clear about our Faith and our role in bringing others to Christ. Presently, it is confused. Some say we must bring others to the fullness of the Truth. Others say people are merely bound by the knowledge they have and their fulfilled expression of it- which then equates with as much as validating the protestant ‘churches’.
But that opposes our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI when he says there are no other
