Is there sex in heaven?

This is a silly thread. Of course there won’t be sex in heaven. Sex is an earthly pleasure, but it also brings pain to women in childbirth.

The purpose of sex is to keep replacing the dead with the living. In heaven we will have everlasting life.

This does sound like a Mormon idea. They believe in procreation after death.
 
Of course there will be sex! But only if you are a Sadducee woman sequentially married and widowed to multiple brothers. 😃

She is having a wonderful time in Heaven. I’m not so sure if those seven brothers are enjoying it so much, though. 😛

I don’t think it is a silly thread. I have wondered myself what exactly heaven will be like. I am under the belief now after contemplation and reading that there won’t be sex in heaven but by seeking we learn, by asking we are given an opportunity to be educated better in some areas we might be unsure of etc.
 
Since sex is technically sexual intercourse, and in heaven we are only our spirits, I don’t think there is anything to actually, you know, intercourse.

This sort of question seems to me to come from the thinking that heaven is a place, like a really really nice Earth. But if I am correct, it is more of a state of mind (or perhaps soul is a better word).

Indeed this is the most ridicoulous thread we ever found in this Catholic Answers Forums.
No - the church is NOT against sex as so many accuse the church so wrongly. But sex is a matter of privacy between loving married couples and God. Married couples; or you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh” (1 Cor 6:16).
Sex becomes dirty, if no love is concerned and love is replaced by cupidity.
To pull down heaven on sex matters or rather cast sex matters on heaven, I really call ridiculous. Who on earth would think of sex in heaven, when there are far greater things; such as being with God personally in His direct bodily presence. Doesn’t the Holy Bible tell us "what no ear ever heard and no eye ever saw, God helds for those who believed in Him. Again - how on earth could enybody of clear sense connect this with sex???!!! unbelievable!
Moslems - yes, to them sex in heaven is important and common thought. Are we Moslems?

We will certainly have bodies in Heaven, since we will be resurrected into Heaven on Resurrection Day after the end of the world, but we will probably be busy with more important things (the heavenly Mass, for example) to think of such things as sex.
 
I don’t remember the verse, but in the gospels Jesus says that in heaven, we neither marry nor are given in marriage (in response to the question about the wife with multiple husbands on earth). Since marriage in this life is until death, logically there is no way for moral sex to be in heaven.

Only if there is marriage in the Catholic church first, and only with natural family planning, and with full intent to enter into the Marital Embrace each and every single time being completely open to the possiblility of conception. The marriage must, of course, be recognized by the Church; if any marriage has occurred before this marriage, then it must be nullified first.

There must be no lustful thought during the act of sex. Both participants must be thinking only of God and children. Oh, and sexual intercourse only - none of that other funny business.

Hmmm…I’ve never thought of this before. But now that the question has been raised…

That’s just one point that proves this thread the silliest one of the year, for the very idea of Angels having sex is unworthy of or to a Christian and a special kind of blasphemy.
