steve-b LETS"S be friends

You didn’t share anything I already knew; but then I suspect you were answering to the FORUM. Very well done.

Thank you so very much!
Patrick
I used that answer many times on the old forum. We never know who might read and benefit from that ongoing history, from Jesus forward, all properly referenced. 😃

Amen my friend, its GREAT to discover a bit of Truth and Wisdom here

God Bless you,
Patick

Thanks Bruno.

It’s astounding how the simple reality that TRUTH can be ONLY singular per defined issue, and the natural consequences of that knowledge as it relates to

One True God

Who can [and therefore DOES] have just one TRUE set of faith beliefs

Founded and desires just One True Church***

[** all churches are defined by their freely chosen set of faith beliefs]

God Bless you,
Patrick

All other Christian Churches are no real CHURCHES in the sense of Christ’s Word, but denominational groups - though Christians (as Pope Benedict said).
A truth or faith that is defined by any group, is their “truth”, and can’t be the one and only truth, as it’s not defined by God but by man.

The one and only truth can be owned and administered by the very Truth Himself only; GOD. God the Father gave us in the Old Testament the revelation of Himself, God The Son gave us God’s doctrine and such the one and only full truth.

Jesus Christ handed this one and only truth to His Church He founded on St. Peter. The Universal Church, later called the Catholic= universal Church by St. James in his „catholic letters“ and St. Peters first and second letter, three letters of St. John and the letter of Jude. The latter three three are called Catholic, because they are TO ALL „universal“.

Now, all other christian Churches call this inauguration of St. Peter and Peter’s successors the Pope, a catholic misinterpretation of the Gospel and Christ’s word, and even a twisting and forgery of the Holy Scripture.
As long as suchlike accusations last and are kept upright, the barrier for the so very necessary reunification with the Catholic Church stands, and other Churches name the necessety to reunite withe Catholic Church, who can not give up any detail of her by Jesus Christ given truth, an „assumption“.

But as soon as you recognize a truth (be it God’s or any other truth - such as the absolute truth in laws of physics, one can’t compromise it and say e.g.: Ok then, let’s agree on;
„the apple falls in an angle of … degree off the tree and not as you say; absolute perpendicular“.

Yours
Bruno

The answer to your question is yes, but as for “evidence,” well that is something else.

Not many people have St. Paul style epiphanies. Those are a rare Grace.

All I can say is this:

1.) You will get no answer here.
2.) If You are truly seeking an answer, attend services. Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi. Who are their saints? Go and see. PRAY. How do their people live?

Opps, I meant DIDN’T KNow

I made some mistakes on my links that I gave above. I should have double checked before I posted. Found them too late to edit the original

I should correct these just in case someone opens all of them and finds my mistake in duplicating the same links where the correct links should have been. I think this will get all MY oops!

Here goes

Part 1

The Church has been Catholic from the 1st century. The English word Catholic is a transliteration of the Greek katholikos which is a compound word from kata, which means according to, and holos, which means the whole or taken together, = throughout all, or universal. http://www.catholic.com/tracts/what-catholic-means

From the Greek NT
Acts 9:31 “the church throughout all ἐκκλησία,καθ’,ὅλης ,τῆς ,Judea and Galilee and Sama’ria…" = the Kataholos Church. One can ask, **_where does _kata holos ekklesia _ appear in scripture?

Acts 9:31 the church throughout all_** ἐκκλησία καθ’ ὅλης τῆς
ἐκκλησία = Strong's Greek: 1577. ἐκκλησία (ekklésia) -- an assembly, a (religious) congregation ,
καθ’ = http://bibleapps.com/greek/2596.htm ,
ὅλης = http://bibleapps.com/greek/3650.htm ,
τῆς = http://bibleapps.com/greek/3588.htm , Judea and Galilee and Sama’ria…"
= the Kataholos Church = the Catholic Church.

Catholic Church is used by

Ignatius, Bishop of Antioch from ~69 a.d. to ~107 a.d. ordained by the apostles, a direct disciple of St John. It was in Antioch where the disciples were first called Christian Acts 11:26 Acts 11:26 RSVCE - and when he had found him, he brought - Bible Gateway Ignatius in his writings uses both “Christian” and “Catholic Church”

St Ignatius, uses Christian in (ch 2) and Catholic Church in (ch 8)
Epistle to the Smyrnæans
http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/0109.htm of which schismatics won’t be going to heaven Epistle to the Philadelphians (ch 3) . http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/0108.htm . Where would Ignatius learn to teach that warning and consequence for one’s soul, for committing and remaining in the sin of schism / division from the Catholic Church? St Paul

Part 2

Romans 16:17-20 # SEARCH rom 16

Galatians 5:19-21 # SEARCH gal 5
and that came from Jesus who does NOT approve of division in His Church John 17:20-23 # SEARCH jn 17 , and since the HS only teaches what comes from Jesus John 16:12-15 Douay-Rheims Bible, John Chapter 16 no one can say the HS inspired THEM to divide, or inspired all the divisions we see today in Christianity. There is no expiration date to that warning and condemnation against division, and those who do it and keep it going. Once one knows the truth of their condition, their own division from the Catholic Church, and it’s condemnation, (seen in scripture and Tradition) and they don’t end their division, then they can’t be saved. That is from scripture and tradition.
846 Catechism of the Catholic Church - Paragraph # 846 .

Catholic Church is used by

St Polycarp, Bp Smyrna, disciple of St John called the Church the “Catholic Church”
The Martyrdom of Polycarp http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/0102.htm

Muratorian canon Muratorian Canon (Roberts-Donaldson Translation) uses authority of “Catholic Church” in determining the canon

Irenaeus ~180 a.d. from Smyrna, became bishop of Lyon, wrote “Against Heresies” he called the Church the “Catholic Church” Adversus haereses [Bk 1 Chapter 10 v 3] http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/0103110.htm . Irenaeus was taught by Polycarp, and teaches all must agree with Rome [Bk 3, Chapter 3, v 2-3] http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/0103303.htm on account of its preeminent authority

Cyprian~250 a.d. calls the Church the Catholic Church Epistle 54 http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/050654.htm

The Nicene Creed, 325 a.d., teaches it’s an article of faith to believe in the “One Holy Catholic Apostolic Church”

Augustine ~395 There are many other things that most justly keep me in her [i.e. the Catholic Church’s] bosom. . . . The succession of priests keeps me, beginning from the very seat of the Apostle Peter, to whom the Lord, after His resurrection, gave it in charge to feed His sheep, down to the present episcopate. And so, lastly, does the name itself of Catholic, which, not without reason, amid so many heresies, the Church has thus retained; so that, though all heretics wish to be called Catholics, yet when a stranger asks where the Catholic Church meets, no heretic will venture to point to his own chapel or house.Against the Epistle of Manichaeus Called Fundamental (ch 5 v6) http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/1405.htm

etc

The same Church today, Pope Francis is over, 266th successor to St Peter.

Jesus started one Church. The Catholic Church. No one can argue the HS inspired them to start their own church, and divide from the Catholic Church because that would contradict Jesus prayer. John 17:20-23 Douay-Rheims Bible, John Chapter 17

Thank you my friend!

It’s comforting seeing our faith so well articulated; AND in charity too!

God Bless you,
Patrick
