was hanging out in a friend’s room and a pornographic image came up on the computer…didnt intend to see this image, but i saw it, didnt dwell on it…is that a mortal sin…?

How could something completely out of your control be any kind of sin at all?

You didn’t do anything wrong. The damage of porn isn’t just seeing it, it’s what you do with it in your mind.

Not your fault and not a sin. But your friend needs to do something about his computer, it’s infected with something. This happened to my last one, and it got so bad it finally crashed.

Only when you will something is it is sin. Mortal sin requires our full consent,
but you didn’t consent at all.
You could use a Catholic resource to check such questions out. I suggest the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which is in many bookstores, and which deals with such things as sin

In our culture you will see these sort of images everywhere. Short of retiring to a monastery, you will never be able not to see them. On television, on high streets, in newpapers, everywhere. Mortal sin requires intent. No intent is present when an image is presented to your eyes, or even to your mind (as long as you don’t entertain the thought).

There was no full consent of the will involved, so definitely no mortal sin.
And I have to agree with Betsy, how can something completely out of your control be a sin?
