Hi, I am a practicing catholic. I am also an adolecsent who is fighting against the struggle of masterbation. Everytime I fall, I never recieve communion until I get to confession, as I know it is a mortal sin to do so.
And recently, I have fallen. Today when I went to mass, I knew that I was not to recieve communion, and wasn’t intending on doing so. When I got to the Eucharistic minister I folded my arms, showing her that I wanted a blessing. When she saw this she still tried to give me the Eucharist to me. Not knowing what to do, I recieved the communion, in order not to make a scene and to not stop the lineup.
So my question is, did I commit a mortal sin even though I wasn’t intending to recieve the Eucharist?
I am in great distress because of this.

Thank you for your time,

MM17.

Hi,

No, you didn’t commit a mortal sin. But if there is a next time, don’t go up at all! What you ought to do, is ask a priest before Mass to hear your Confession.
