Is this a Near Occasion of Sin?

I am I high schooler, and my history teacher gave us an assignment to read for homework. Now, there was nothing explicitly bad in the assigment, but I am easily aroused to think lustful thoughts. As I was reading, not knowing that it would be there, I came onto a part of the assignment that I felt might cause an occasion of sin. I continued to read, however, until it explicitly became an occasion of sin, whereupon I immediately skipped that section of the assignment and controlled my thoughts. Is this an actual sin, or frequenting an occasion of sin, or a mortal sin?
 
A near occasion for a mortal sin is some thing or person or place etc what generally leads one to commit a particular mortal sin…or likely will cause one to commit the mortal sin in question.

Such can be of a nature that it generally leads most to sin…or particular to a person.

Ordinarily we are obliged to avoid such. Though there can be exceptions.

It is not just a temptation per se. Often times one must be around certain temptations due to duty or the simply the society we live in.

And it is not a “remote occasion” where one could be tempted but generally one does not fall. Such are often in our society.

A good confessor too can help one judge.
 
If I am doing something. And it occurs to me that such and such is actually a near occasion of sin…and I upon realizing it cooperate with grace and skip it or avoid it…such is a good act on my part. An act of virtue.
