I know that sexual thoughts can be very very bad and often lead you away from God. However, is it a sin for me to be mentally planning the stuff that I want to do on my wedding night, if you know what I mean? Because this is someone who I really really love and feel a strong emotional bond to, and I want it to be just perfect for both of us.

One small word of advise from old married guy, (20 years and going strong), if I may be so bold. Don’t over plan the event, chances are you will both be very tired from a long day, or even several days, of wedding prep., wedding day, ect. Over plannig will likely as not lead to disappointment on both of your parts.

Do what come natural and put her needs before your own and everything will be just dandy.

Good Luck and may God Bless You Both!

NOT JUST STRONG…CATHOLIC STRONG!!!

LOL is this post true or what. I think couples getting married, especially in traditional weddings with receptions, should just plan on not consummating their bond that night. And either way, they should not have any expectations for it!

To the OP, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that if you follow two rules before you get married, you will be safe: don’t entertain any thoughts that would make your fiancee uncomfortable (assuming she’s a practicing Catholic), and don’t go far enough with anything that you are tempted to have some kind of sex before your marriage (whether with your fiancee or by yourself). Also, get and read the book Holy Sex! and read it before you get married. Good luck and congratulations! We never realize how truly blessed we are to be (or about to be) united in marriage.

There is nothing wrong with planning “activities” to which you may choose to do on your wedding night. However, if the planning thoughts start to become less about planning and lust starts to enter your mind and you entertain those thoughts, obviously a sin will be present. That is if you are aware that you are lusting and choose to do it anyway. A simple way to avoid that is just plan that you are going to do that “activity” and not worry about how you are going to do that activity. That’s something you both will have to figure after you are married.

I started planning it because I heard that it can be painful to her on the first time and I wanted to try to find a way that would make it less painful for her.

Well, I’m not sure how you would be able to figure that out until “that night” you are married. In order to abide by church teaching the act must end in the area that it’s supposed to. See what I am saying. If you are worried about there being physical problems with her parts needed for “that night” I suggest you talk to Catholic fertility specialist who may be able to offer something that can be done to make it less painful. But again, how would you know until “that night”?

Another thing is, I was thinking of ways to make the moment more romantic. I’m not planning to do any kinky hardcore stuff.

Some light planning about the evening as a whole. Candles, wine, chocolate covered strawberries, aromatherapy massage oils, or bubble bath (if you’re staying at a place iwth a nice tub) etc. Nothing wrong with that… Visualizing sexual activites with your fiancee is no good. You can only visualize about your wife and until the vows, she isn’t your wife.

Pack some KY and be gentle. A couple glasses of wine to kill the nerves helps too!

See the post on KY – it is not recommended due to messing with the mobility of sperm I believe.

pre or “pre seed” does not have this problem. Also not too much wine for one needs to be in possession of ones facilities to be ‘consumate’ the marriage. …theologically speaking

One needs to be able to truly give themselves to their spouse
