If you are watching a tv program and become slightly aroused but don’t act on that arousal have you committed a sin?

There is a difference between a temptation and consent.

Consent is key. One can sin internally via simply consenting.

One can also be tempted and not consent at all.

But just cause say for example something caught you off guard and your body reacted with arousal…but one say turned away and did not consent etc…there may be no sin at all. Just an automatic thing…and temptation.

Note too that it may be that one is in a near occasion (which can even be sinful…) or the show should simply not be watched due to the content…etc etc…

You have to judge.

Perhaps if it is unclear speak with your confessor if you have one…he will know you…

Nope. Just means your alive and healthy. 😉
I agree. It is impossible to go through life and never get aroused. Man are attracted to Women and vice-vers and it is God’s wish so that new life may replace old life.

no its not a sin- i think. i get aroused a lot. many times during the day i will get spontaneous erections. I dont think i will go to hell.

However since i masturbate then maybe that will qualify as being a sin???
I enjoy it though.

Yes masturbation is usually always a sin.

Thank you all for the answers.

even if you didn’t act on it, you could have consented to the impure thoughts/feelings and kept watching the program… if you turned off the program right away and tried to distract yourself, you didn’t sin. If you consented to the thoughts, that would be a sin, I think. (even if they only remained thoughts/feelings).

Well at points I looked away but other times I just kind of sublimely watched it ignoring the inappropriate parts. Do you thinks it’s venial?

Are you seriously under the impression that natural thoughts are sinful? A television program? Don’t be so hard on yourself!

Let me put it this way: If you believe this is a sin, what kind of God do you think exists? If being sexually aroused is a sin, then we are all in BIG trouble.

Just a note the last two posts are not by those who profess to be Catholic…so are not “Catholic answers”.

Thanks I had noticed that. “All religions lead to God” Oh no they don’t!
quite agree… no reigions lead to god as it is in the same fictional creation league as faries or unicorns.

wake up folks smell the coffee. my answers are just as valid as catholic answers. catholics shouldnt adopt a superior attitude when it comes to religion. no ones religion or non beliefs are 100% certain. so lets stop being so smug,

only a thought.

maybe the world would be a better place if we learn to tolerate each others views more eh???

hugs and cuddles to you all- even more so if your a catholic.
