I hear very often evidence this and fact that. Is that really all the CC has going for it. That’s all I see being talked about here is a selected version of history.

There’s a couple of millenia history and information in the CC… not sure why you say “is this all there is?”

They also present a couple of questionable “miracles”.

Your question is very vague. There are lot discussions here about the Catholic Faith. What exactly are you looking for?

I’m trying to understand the CC better. I’ve lost count of how many people tell me that they have facts, proof and evidance that they’ve been around for 2k years. I’m trying to understand if thats the core you guys really teach as being “why we are right”.

The Catholic Church is Christ’s true Church. This can be seen from the time of the Apostles, to those whom they appointed bishops, like Linus or Clement, and on down the line. If you have a specific question about a particular era or facet of the Church, feel free to ask. 🙂

Hmm… have you asked questions in the Apologetics section? Maybe you’ll get clearer answers there cuz you look like you’ve spent more time here in Non-Religions. 🤷

I’m more or less only here.

I prefer an honest (even if not perfectly informed) answer to a sound bite and it is from the conversation here that the question arises.

if you’re catholic then you’re supposed to believe the church has divine revelation going for it.

Why we are right is a Mormon question, that you keep asking, and you seem to be miffed that you keep getting the same answer.

What else are you looking for? Usually Mormons are looking for the Holy Spirit. The only thing is, you already have an a priori view that doesn’t allow for the existence of the Holy Spirit in the Catholic Church.

The Holy Spirit has guided Christ’s Church since Christ established His Church. The historical evidence that people present to you is an outward sign of that guidance. With all the long historical events of the world and Catholicism, attacks from within and without, Christ’s Church survives. Catholics see the guiding hand of God throughout history.

More importantly, we see the continuity of Christ’s Church in the Sacraments that He established. All of the Sacraments, but especially in the Sacrament that is most central to our Faith, the Blood and Body of Christ.

That you cannot see the Holy Spirit in Catholicism does not indicate a problem with Christ’s Church.

Catholicism is all about faith. 100% Faith in the bible. Faith in an obscure history. Faith in the Magesterium.

Take it or leave it.

Because this is just how it is. The “facts, proof and evidence” are all over the place and overwhelmingly in support of our position. As you have been told numerous times, this is the version of history taught in secular schools who have no religious agenda to push. Although the teaching of this history may be highly critical of the Catholic Church at times, and there are some ongoing controversies, the basic facts of the Church’s early history are not really in dispute except for the likes of conspiracy theorists and competing churches who feel they must lie about their origins to maintain credibility.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Roman_Catholic_Church
The History of the Roman Catholic Church covers a period of just under two thousand years. As the oldest branch of Christianity, the history of the Catholic Church plays an integral part of the History of Christianity as a whole. In simple terms, the term Catholic Church as it is used in this article refers specifically to the Church founded in Jerusalem by Jesus of Nazareth (c. AD 33) and led by an unbroken apostolic succession through St. Peter the Apostle, ruled by the Bishop of Rome as successor of St. Peter, now commonly known as the Pope.

It is not the length, it is the continuity. Of doctrines. Of Sacraments. Of the Catholic Faith.

It could be 100 years or 2000.

As a Mormon, you keep claiming that the Catholic Church has apostasized, you have yet to prove this. When? Where? What date? When did the Church that Christ established leave the earth??? What people present to you is evidence that it did not.

And all you can come up with are lame, flippant remarks about “the longest player wins”.

Wake up.

You are not trying to understand anything. You are only trying to rationalize your anti-Catholic Mormon beliefs.

Well they are just presenting a rebuttal to your assertion that the Catholic church went into apostasy in the first century. So it seems to me, it’s not matter of presenting “why we are right” but showing “why you are wrong”.

The issue is where is the faith and belief of the everyday catholic?

Duration is not the defining factor. But it is a necessary prerequisite that whichever is the true Christian Church must be traceable back to Christ. From the start you can eliminate Churches that do not meet that single criteria.

Well I personalty don’t agree with that, but my questing is how do you know which branch is the right branch? the Orthodox history says that they came first and that the CC broke off from them. Luther and many others could (not sure if any do) claim that the CC went astray.
