Is this an impediment to priestly ordination?

A sample case for Canon Law:
A baptized Catholic, when he was 13 years old, attended an Episcopal Church for about 6 months. He did receive holy communion in the Episcopal Church, not knowing he was not allowed to do so. He never publicly converted to being an Episcopalian by a formal act of an oath or ‘Rite of Acceptance.’
Years later, he wants to become a priest. Does he now have an impediment to priestly ordination later on in life for attending an episcopalian church for 6 months (the impediment of heresy, apostasy, or schism?)

A person who commits an act of schism or heresy would be “irregular” for ordination (canon 1040). Whether this individual’s actions rose to the level of true schism or heresy would need to be evaluated. Obviously as a minor he most likely went to worship wherever his parents took him so it most likely was not an actual act of schism or heresy. However the Vocations Director and Bishop would have to evaluate the individual’s circumstances and make a decision. Even if they determine that what occurred was an actual act of heresy or schism, the Bishop can dispense him from the irregularity if he also determines that the individual is suitable for holy orders (canon 1047 §4).
