Is this appropriate for Lectio Divina?

Our church is starting Lectio Divina within the next few months, and I’ll be one of 3 who will be presenting it. My part will be as the main presenter of the scripture.

Besides being a meditation on scripture, I have seen Lectio Divina as God reveling Himself to us. And I was wondering if this would be appropriate: I’ve been thinking of handing out a laminated picture of Jesus so people can use it as a bookmark, and on the backside of this putting a scripture verse. The verse is Jeremiah 33:3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know."

I was thinking this was appropriate as we meditate on the scripture.
The picture of Jesus I was thinking of using is Jesus standing above a mountain stream with outstretched arms. It looks peaceful and majestic at the same time.

But I have an evangelical background. Does this sound too Protestant/Evangelical or am I just over-thinking? I go to an old-school type of church. Maybe I should use a traditional picture of Jesus with a traditional Catholic prayer?

I’d really appreciate some opinions. 🙂 THANK YOU!

Sounds fantastic. . If you want to be extra kosher you could impose a lightened icon of the 12 Apostles as the foundation of the church behind the verse. Or of a Cathedral or something similar. Another image of Pentecost including the Mother of God comes to mind as well

You could also use the picture of Christ knocking at the door. With the words, “Open heart, open mind, open soul”. This could be your theme for the Lectio Divina. This was what we use at a recent Cursillo regarding Lectio Divina.
