Is this coercion?

Running this is not free, and if we can’t make it break even, the forums go away.
Many of us understand this John. We’ve known since the switch to Discourse that things aren’t looking good. It’s pretty obvious.
I’ve been telling you all this for a while now.
I do not recall seeing these posts…

Either way, now would be a good time to prominently post and reiterate what needs done to keep the Forum solvent. Just pin it on the main page or do a pop up.

Personally, I agree with @(name removed by moderator) that a membership drive with a clear goal could be the answer.

All points made here are valid. I’ve enjoyed my time at CAF. It will be coming to an end. My family and I financially support our own parish heavily. I don’t want to cut into that, and I don’t wish to be viewed as a freeloader in any way. I wish you all the best.

I am sure this is deliberate, it is very common for websites to try to prevent you from using adblocker and there is specific code and third party websites which enable this and it is common to also ask for money at the same time.

Is it coercion? I don’t know if i would go that far, but it is lowly. However you can completely block ads on this site including the pop up asking for money. I don’t see any ads on this site. Download u block origin as an extension in your browser and you will be able to block that pop up or you can use an easier extension like ad-guard. ublock is harder to use.

That’s my situation. If I could send in a check by mail, I would be fine with that.

Also, a yearly subscription would be much more convenient than doing it monthly.

Or, perhaps quarterly.

There is a choice here. If you can’t support the forums financially (which is totally understandable), then all you have to do is disable your ad blockers so we can generate some revenue that way.
