My brother -n- law’s girflfirend asked me to watch their two kids, so they can go apply for their marriage license today.

I have a question. I told her yes, but they are getting married in a civil ceremony and not in the church because they both were married in the Catholic church before hand and do not have annulments.

Is me watching their kids to go get their license in anyway condoning their marriage. I do not agree with their upcoming wedding of course, but am I being too scrupulous about this.

you are babysitting, not performing or witnessing the event.

I don’t think babysitting is an issue. But, I personally would not attend the wedding if you believe it to be invalid.

God Bless

Since you already told them you would babysit for them, I think it would be wrong for you to back out of it now, on such short notice. Plus, they didn’t ask you what you thought about the wedding. They just asked you to watch the children. They probably already know how you feel about it and I don’t think they would assume that, since you watched the children, you approve of the way they’re getting married. I don’t see them jumping to that conclusion. So, I think you’re okay.
