It is valid. The full graces of the Sacrament are blocked by the sin but flow as soon as the person returns to a state of grace.

Corki is correct. The other point to remember is that choosing to be confirmed while in a state of mortal sin is grave matter and thus a sin by itself. I encourage the individual to mention both sins to confession.Is the Confirmation of someone who was Confirmed in mortal sin valid?

It is sinful to receive communion, to be confirmed, to be married, or to be ordained while in a state of mortal sin. It is pretending to receive graces from God through the Church actions, that is what sacraments are about, when we have chosen to be separated from God and we are not reconciled with the Church.Interesting.
