In the movie Gladiator, there is a scene where they are fighting and for just 1 second, a gladiator who I believe is a woman is shown and her armour is 2 breast (nipple shown). It is not her breast but the armour’s .

I’m sure watching the movie is alright as long as you turn away from that scene, the rest of it should be fine as long as theirs not on going or vast amounts of exposed nudity.

Are you aroused by this scene? If not I would not consider it a sin on your part. IMO for something to be a sin on your part the nudity/sex has to be watched with the intention of arousal/lust. I guess any sex scene in a movie could be considered pornography, but I don’t think the sin would fall on you.

CCC:
Pornography consists in removing real or simulated sexual acts from the intimacy of the partners, in order to display them deliberately to third parties. It offends against chastity because it perverts the conjugal act, the intimate giving of spouses to each other. It does grave injury to the dignity of its participants (actors, vendors, the public), since each one becomes an object of base pleasure and illicit profit for others. It immerses all who are involved in the illusion of a fantasy world. It is a grave offense. Civil authorities should prevent the production and distribution of pornographic materials.

Armor nipple? That’s kind of like asking whether a bra (without a woman in it) is pornographic. Come on, man. 😛

Well there is a difference from watching Gladiator and running into that scene, or watching Gladiator because of that scene.

I for one welcome tolerance of armored nipples. We should be charitable towards lady gladiators.

Seriously, though, if it is done in a historical context (legitimate), then it is not something that is terribly bad. Just don’t watch it to take some kind of sexual pleasure from it. If, on the other hand, you are going to some kind of classical reenactment festival, then it would definitely be scandalous to wear such a thing.

According to the Catechism:
2354 Pornography consists in removing real or simulated sexual acts from the intimacy of the partners, in order to display them deliberately to third parties …
so what you describe is not pornography, but it may count as provocative or erotic fashion. I have noticed that science-fiction or fantasy art, as you might see on paperback book covers or in video games, often portrays female warriors in big-busted chest armor.

It’s obviously meant to be attention-getting. Some individuals, but not all, may find it arousing. In my opinion, this sort of thing is not evil in itself, but if it leads you to sin, you should avoid it.

It wouldn’t unless it were in a sexual way. The same thing happens in Franco Zeffirelli’s Romeo and Juliet.

It’s difficult to look at the young breasts of the actress who also played the Blessed Mother in that television series. Because she is so beautiful, and because of the timing of the series with respect to childhood, it’s difficult for me to not imagine her as the face of the Blessed Mother now. So if I see her flash her breasts like that, it’s like no no no no.

There are any number of paintings of the Blessed Virgin Mary nursing the Baby Jesus. Including showing breast. Including showing nipple.

I, frankly, cannot picture anybody calling any of those pictures pornographic.

The point being that the mere image of a breast does not pornography make.

No, that is not pornography…

If it is pornography, then so is the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel…

I have seen this movie several times and I do not remember that scene.
