Is this considered stealing?

In my P.E. class, we have started some basketball so we all are able to grab a basketball out of a bag and start playing. Well, sometimes people have them roll down this hill we have and sometimes I don’t think anyone gets them. Sometimes they roll to some spot from a group and they don’t come retrieve it because I guess they have another ball. So I sometimes use these that roll down the hill or roll out from a certain team. Would that be stealing?
Thank you

As for me — No —. If someone asks for that ball, have it return, no problem with that.

If you use the ball that was left behind to play and return it or left it where you found it it is not stealing.

If you took it home intending to keep it so the owners could not get it back it would be stealing.

Think about it this way. If you use the property of someone else would the owner care? I doubt the school would care if you used the ball left behind, or their basketball hoop. But if the school left its schoolbus parked on the street with the keys in it and you took it for a ride they probably would not be happy about you using their property.
